    • Ryan>: (on marrying and having kids again after his divorce with Reese Witherspoon) I can see doing it again, yeah. And I can certainly see possibly having children again. I'm pretty young, and there are many beautiful things about that idea of marriage and family. It just doesn't always work out perfect for everybody. But I've done all I'm going to do in terms of talking about that part. It's fair to her and fair to myself to move on.

    • Ryan: (on seeing pictures of Jake and Reese together) It's bizarre. There's plenty of times when I say, 'What a strange situation I've found myself in.' But at a certain point you know it's going to happen, so you are prepared in some fashion.

    • Ryan: (on Reese and Jake Gyllenhaal) He's a good dude, I love her [Reese] and I want her to be happy, and it seems like she is.

    • Ryan: I want my work to be fulfilling and interesting, and that's it. It's not about chasing a pay cheque, or chasing the lights. The only reason I attract paparazzi at a supermarket is because I was married to the highest-paid actress in the world. Even though I'm not with her any longer, there is a certain amount of notoriety that I guess sticks beyond.

    • Ryan: (on his divorce from Reese Witherspoon) After the divorce, I was a physical wreck. I wanted to die. I was ready to kill myself. I was not taking care of myself at all. I would wake up and cry and vomit. Now, it's f***ing easy to cry on cue. When I was younger, I didn't have enough to cry about. But since I've had kids, I feel my work has become better.

    • Ryan: (on his split with Reese Witherspoon) Going through something like this, as difficult as it is, my daughter has been the inspiration, my 7-year-old daughter Ava. The little girl is beyond her years in conscientiousness and maturity. I know it sounds pathetic – I'm a 32-year-old guy, but my 7-year-old daughter is getting me through the toughest time in my life, and that's beautiful too.

    • Ryan: (on his split from wife, Reese Witherspoon) I'm not guilty of a lot of things I have been accused of. My priority is and always has been the health and safety of my family.

    • Ryan: (on undergoing therapy) Why make people feel as if working on themselves or working on their relationship is a negative thing? The biggest mistake is not doing that, ignoring it and having the marriage fall apart due to laziness.

    • Ryan: (on his career) The last three movies I've done have been the best. That's a pretty good feeling at my age. I've been doing this a long time, and I started to get really specific about what I did and didn't want to do. That brought me to a place where I'm only doing what I want, which is pretty lucky.

    • Ryan: (on his appearance for the movie 'Flags Of Our Fathers') The thing I really focused on physically was making sure that my body looked like someone who didn't look too modern, in a sort of "work-out" way. I just wanted to be very lean and kind of … These guys aren't eating very well when they're out there, and so I just took those things into consideration. I didn't do a lot of working out because I don't think a lot of men did in that era. I cut back on foods. Also, the suit was so physical that anything we ate we burned off. The sand we were shooting in, to move around in it - you sink. We had 40 pounds [18kg] of equipment on us, and when you're trying to run up a hill of sand over and over and over again, it's pretty exhausting.

    • Ryan: (on Reese winning her Oscar in 2005) For me, sitting there was surreal. For my family - her parents and my parents were obviously in tears with joy and it's weird to have those moments publicly and have them scrutinized. But all of that aside, it's a huge moment.

    • Ryan: (asked if it's tough having two actors in one household) Yes and no. The good thing about it is you kind of understand what the other does, and there is that kind of consideration, but I don't think it matters much. Within the house it doesn't matter.

    • Ryan: (asked what kind of dad he is) That's a hard question. I'm a good dad, and no, I don't spoil my kids. I grew up poor and I want them to have a sensibility that isn't privileged. So that's a point for me.

    • Ryan: (on wanting his children to be proud of his work) This is the first one where I had that feeling. I only saw it two days ago, so it's very fresh for me. That was the immediate feeling I had when it ended: "This is something my kids will watch, and their kids will watch, and I will be proud for them to do so, and I think they'll be proud of what their dad was a part of." It's a hugely satisfying feeling, and something I don't think you get to experience enough in this business.

    • Ryan: I will no longer be an actor to hire, I have a passion for producing and making films.

    • Ryan: (on working with Reese Witherspoon on "Cruel Intentions") It was great. I'm the luckiest guy in the world. Not only personally but professionally. She was an asset to the movie and we begged her to do it. She didn't have as colorful a role as Sarah's and mine, but she did an amazing job. Really elevated the piece.

    • Ryan: It just makes so many other things insignificant. It is the most incredible thing that has happened to me, and I feel so lucky to have found the person I want to be with, and to be prepared and enthusiastic.

    • Ryan: I will no longer be an actor to hire, I have a passion for producing and making films.

    • Ryan: Music is my greatest love. If I could play an instrument I would be a musician.

    • Ryan: I would show up for work and look at the pairs of tight, shiny shorts or jeans that made up our 54 wardrobe and wonder if we were making Showgirls.

    • Ryan: I have a huge CD collection. Music is an obsession of mine.

    • Ryan: Things like my baby and my wife are a lot more important to me than being in one of the top ten grossing movies of all time.

    • Ryan: I have good taste, that's the one thing I'm cocky about.

    • Ryan: People keep trying to make me a movie star but they just don't understand. I'm not a movie star, I'm an actor.

Ryan Phillipe has starred in some really great films (e.g. "Crash" and "Flags of Our Fathers""), but with the exception being these films, his acting is quite flat and his voice always sounds monotone. To me, he always just seems angry at the world in every role that he takes on.
