Sacha Baron Cohen is a British comedian who is best known for his major motion pictures and his television show in which he plays a number of different characters, sometimes ironically, without the full understanding or consent of the people with whom he interacts. He is best known for playing the characters Ali G, Borat, and Bruno. Ali G is a character that first became popular on the Eleven O'Clock Show that launched Cohen to fame and won him GQ's commendation as Comedian of the Year. He's a politically incorrect rapper who interviews various members of British society. Later he wrote and starred in the movie Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. In it, he plays an offensive immigrant who naively launches into inappropriate situations. For this he won the 2007 Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Comedy. Cohen was born on October 13, 1971 in Hammersmith, West London to a Jewish family.
