Arriving in Emmerdale in July 2001 was 15-year-old Sammy Winward whose character Katie Addyman caught the eye of wayward youngster Andy Sugden (Kelvin Fletcher) when the two school kids end up in detention together.
It's the first major television break for the lassie from Lancashire, who admitted it's more than she dared to hope for getting a part on the BAFTA award

Sammy joined Emmerdale at the same time as Riane Davieson, who plays Eve Birch.
Sammy, who lives in Bolton, said "It's fantastic to join Emmerdale at the same time as Raine. We know each other really well because we share the same agent and have trained together. Emmerdale has a really thriving young cast and I'm just pleased to be part of it."
A show spokesman said: "We've got some real eye-opening stories lined up for the girls and the other village teenagers. We're sure that Sammy and Raine will prove a real hit with fans."
