Sarah: (on the effect of having her daughter Charlotte) For me, having a child was that cliched, life-altering experience where everything took on a different meaning. Things that had once been priorities had no meaning to me anymore, and things that I'd never thought about suddenly became things that were on my mind.
Sarah: (on trying to meet Giant's QB Eli Manning on The Late Show) No, his security wouldn't let me near him. It was weird. I was trying. I was like, "No really, I'm just a big fan." I think that's where I went wrong. "I just want an autograph and a lock of his hair!" But they said "no." Awkward.
Sarah: (on the proposed Buffy remake) I think it's a horrible idea. To try to do a Buffy without Joss Whedon, I mean that's, like, honestly, to be incredibly non-eloquent: that's the dumbest idea I've ever heard.
It was a movie. It's been made. It stars Kristy Swanson. They made it. They don't need to make another one!
Sarah: I was in Tokyo for my birthday this year and it was kind of sad because Freddie was working. And it was just a small group of us, and we all decided to sort of rent out this tattoo parlor and get tattoos by this amazing guy... It's on my left ankle. And it's a cherry blossom, which is obviously very specific to Tokyo. And, um, a little something private. In Katakana. Which is one of the Japanese alphabets.
Sarah: (on working and being a mom) The nomadic lifestyle does work for a lot of working parents, but I've traveled and I've seen it, and I want to be able to go home at night and see my daughter. I want to be there for her first day of school and her school recital. Honestly, television is what offers me that. They've been amazing about working around schedules. I was able to go to her last day of school. All the big milestones, I'm there for.
Sarah: (on which of her two characters from Ringer she likes best) I look a lot like both of them, so that's handy. What I love about the show is the duality of all of the characters and the idea that we all have a good side and a bad side. I'm not necessarily more like either one of the characters because, in their motivations, they both feel incredibly justified, but Siobhan has the better wardrobe.
Sarah: (on her relationship with her daughter) Like in any other relationship, you have to remember who you are through all this. After she goes to bed at 7:30, I might take a bath or read. And Freddie and I get our time together, too. Relationships are like flowers: They need attention to grow and develop.
Sarah: I'm lucky that I don't feel I have the pressure some actors do. I'm proud of what I've accomplished and I'm not chasing something. A lot of actors are.
Sarah: Work doesn't define who I am. I love what I do, but I don't feel a burning pressure anymore. And because I'm working for fun, I get to enjoy it. I'd watch Ringer if I wasn't on it!
Sarah: (about her body as she is getting older) I wish I could say I was in the best shape of my life right now, but I don't put the same pressure on myself that I used to. So I don't rock a bikini on Wilshire Boulevard – but I don't know many people who do!
Sarah: I'll answer to just about anything. Sometimes people mistake me for Sarah Jessica Parker, and I answer to that, too.
Sarah: (From her early Buffy days, reading Joss Whedon's dialogue) Let me tell you how un-Buffy I am. For the first episode, I come in and yell, "What's the sitch?" I did not know what "sitch" meant. I still have to ask Joss, "What does this mean?" because I don't speak the lingo. I think he makes it up half the time.
Sarah: (On auditioning for the role of Buffy) I probably had eleven auditions and four tests. It was the most awful experience of my life, but I was so driven. I had read the script and heard about Joss Whedon and how wonderful he was.
Sarah: It's been hard to be a show in L.A. and be trendsetting, because the fashions are in New York... Not to mention that most actresses are all, give or take, the same size, between five-two and five-five, and 95 to 125 pounds.
Sarah: Japanese horror is different. It messes with your head.
Sarah: I think the best piece of advice I've ever gotten is to trust myself and go for my dreams. I got that from my mom.
Sarah: My biggest complaint about high school is when it's Send-the-roses day, somebody's always left out. I always got roses, but I would give them to someone who hadn't gotten any.
Sarah: (on the days off from filming "The Grudge" in Japan) I did a lot of shopping. Actually, I had my birthday at Tokyo Disneyland. It was amazing - odd and surreal. Then a bunch of my friends and I rented out a tattoo parlor and we all got tattoos.
Sarah: (on how her life was when "Buffy" ended) I took a break for about six months because you get to that place where you have to figure out what do you do when you don't work all the time. The first couple of weeks I didn't really know what to do with my time.
Sarah: If a tidal wave hits LA just grab a fake boob for safety.
Sarah: Just because you donate sperm does not make you a father. I don't have a father. I would never give him the credit or acknowledge him as my father.
Sarah: I've won an Emmy. Okay, it's a Daytime Emmy, but it's still an Emmy. It doesn't mean nearly as much to me as my Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards for Favorite Female Butt Kicker.
Sarah: Horror films are where women can shine and have a chance to lead. They always save the day in these films.
Sarah: I am militant about drugs. You want to do 'em, you're out of my life.
Sarah: I don't understand why James Bond has to be a man all the time. When Pierce Brosnan retires, why not one of us?
Sarah: Those are such difficult years, and I would never want to be a teenager again for all the money in the world.
Sarah: Some actresses can be the girlfriend or the wife, but I think I would get so bored.
Sarah: Being on Buffy really spoiled me because it's so rare to have a female protagonist like that.
Sarah: I'm not really a fearful person. I don't want to live my life in fear. I look forward to challenges.
Sarah: I'm a fan of Japanese cinema in general.
Sarah: One of the greatest gifts my job has given me is that my mother, who gave up her entire life for me, doesn't have to work any more. I'm now in a position to repay her for her devotion.
