Shirley Henderson was born in Scotland on 24th December 1965. The eldest of three sisters, Shirley showed an early interest and talent for acting, appearing in many local plays.
She also proved herself as a singer, her distinct voice setting her apart from the masses. She performed in many local music clubs and even appeared on talent programme Opportunity Knocks to demonstate her vocal ability.
After graduating from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Shirley did a lot of theatre work with a number of companies.
She is probably best know for her appearances in international films such as Trainspotting, Bridget Jones' Diary and Harry Potter.
