One of the most elegant women ever to appear in films, and a truly marvellous actress, Stephane Audran was for many years (up to 1980) married to the French film director Claude Chabrol, in whose films she became internationally renowned. She was first seen under his direction in "Les Bonnes Femmes" in 1960, and became a major star at the end of the decade in "Les Biches"; soon, she was also to be seen in such classic films as "La Femme Infidele", "Le Boucher" and "Les Noces Rouges".
