In the Top Chef 4 Star All Stars Special Stephen won both the Quickfire round, giving his teammates and himself a major advantage as well as allowing him to choose which charity his team would be competing for, and also won his round of the final challenge. He choose to compete for the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Research.
In the Top Chef Holiday Special, Stephen was knocked out in the first round.
Stephen is of the Jewish faith.
Stephen appeared on the cover of Wellington Magazine in October 2007. The magazine, which covers Palm Beach County, is the local magazine for the area where Stephen was raised and resides.
Stephen has a blog on wine at the Bravo website, as an alumni of their show Top Chef.
Stephen has three siblings.
Stephen is known for opening champagne bottles ala sabre, ie using a knife to slice off the top. He did so in his audition video for Top Chef, and has done it on the show many times.

Stephen was Sommelier, or wine steward, for the restaurant "Nob Hill" at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
In January 2006 Stephen started his own hospitality firm, S.A. Hospitality Innovations LLC.
Stephen: (on why he tried out for Top Chef) The initial opportunity for national exposure is what originally piqued my interest to apply to be on Top Chef. The driving factor was that I would have an opportunity to showcase my passion and standards to America.
Stephen: I always thought that becoming a chef was a very prestigious accomplishment that warranted attention, if you brought something unique to the table.
