The youngest of seven children, Stephen was raised in New York City, and attended NYU. He trained with Stella Adler before appearing on As The World Turns and the Young and the Restless. He left acting for a time to start a media consulting and production company with offices in New York and Los Angeles. Producers from Law & Order: Special Victims Unit remembered him from his soap days and created a character (Dr. Kyle Beresford) for him in 2004.
