Before I watched ‘I’m Alan Partridge’ when I was younger I had never really heard of Steve Coogan. But after only one episode I was completely hooked with Alan Partridge and became a huge fan of Steve Coogan and al his work. It wasn’t until I had completed the second series that I realised that there was a prequel to the I’m Alan Partridge series called ‘Knowing Me, Knowing You with Alan Partridge’ his creative abilities didn’t stop at Alan Partridge he created many other fantastic characters including Paul and Pauline Calf, the appalling travelling sales rep. Gareth Cheeseman, and the "singing sensation" cabaret star Tony Ferrino, a legend in his own dressing room.
His writing talents were very evident in many other films and television productions, including ‘The Parole Officer’, ‘Coogans Run’ and ‘The Day Today’. More recently he has been working on acting roles for the big screen, including starring alongside Lisa Kudrow in ‘Happy Endings’ a clever and thoughtful film about complicated relationships between a group friends and relatives, as well as ‘A Cock and Bull Story’ an adaptation of Laurence Sterne's essentially unfilmable novel, starring alongside a host of other British comedians.
Furthermore, Steve is currently filming in Simon Peggs new film ‘Hot Fuzz’ and adapting Alan Partridge into a Movie.
Steve Coogan is definitely one of the most talented British comedians around to date, with numerous awards and accolades. Personally if I know Steve Coogan has written or starred in a film / TV show then I know that I will enjoy it and I’m sure that his further productions will not disappoint.
