Years later, she asked Mick Fleetwood if she could use the song for her "best of" solo compilation (Timespace - The Best of Stevie Nicks), but Mick wouldn't give her the rights. This eventually led her to (temporarily) leave the band. Ironically, for the reunion tour in 1998 (The Dance) the band was nominated for a Grammy®..the nominated song "Silver Springs".

  • Quotes

    • Stevie: (in 2009 on rumors that troubled star Lindsay Lohan wants to portray her in a movie) Over my dead body! She needs to stop doing drugs and get a grip. Then maybe we'll talk.

    • Stevie: "Gypsy" is about um ...going back to the gypsy that I was prior to Fleetwood Mac.

    • Stevie: I spent thousands of dollars on beautiful black clothes and had to stop wearing them for a long time because a lot of people scared me. And that's really unfair to me, I think, for people - other people - to conjure up their ideas of what I am or what I believe in.

    • Stevie: I have no idea what precipitated those rumors...I am not a witch. Get a life!

    • Stevie: Madonna is too old to be kissing someone who is 22. Britney and Christina should wear more clothes and try writing some decent songs.

    • Stevie: When I joined Fleetwood Mac, I didn't think I was a lead singer. I have a strange voice, a hard voice to get accepted, that's why I always considered myself a writer and not a singer. Only in the last couple of years have I begun to think I could sing.

    • Stevie: I think if you are really into words and poetry and situations of life, there is always a little kiss of sadness on everything you do, It's just the kind of person I am. I always look carefully beneath the outward appearance of things.
I want to know what's really going on in somebody's heart.

    • Stevie: The truly incredible thing is we're realizing that you can perform a two and a half hour gig without being high and still have a fantastic time.

    • Stevie: You know, the man of my dreams might walk round the corner tomorrow. I'm older and wiser and I think I'd make a great girlfriend. I live in the realm of romantic possibility.

    • Stevie: My other family is Fleetwood Mac. I don't need the money, but there's an emotional need for me to go on the road again. There's a love there, we're a band of brothers.

    • Stevie: Singing is the love of my life, but I was ready to give it all up because I couldn't handle people talking about how fat I was.

    • Stevie: Right now I'm not involved with anybody, but I hope by 75 I will be again.

    • Stevie: Rock and menopause do not mix. It is not good, it sucks and every day I fight it to the death, or, at the very least, not let it take me over.

    • Stevie: In comparison to the eight years I spent on Klonopin, the cocaine and brandy wins hands down. If you are ever in a drugstore and they put you on Klonopin, run out of there screaming.

    • Stevie: If you have stage fright, it never goes away. But then I wonder: is the key to that magical performance because of the fear?

    • Stevie: I made a conscious decision that I was not going to have children. I didn't want others raising them, and looking after them myself would get in the way of being a musician and writer.

    • Stevie: I am pretty fearless, and you know why? Because I don't handle fear very well, I'm not a good terrified person.

    • Stevie: Even in my really bad, drugged-out days, I didn't go away. I still toured, still did interviews. I never gave up the fight. That's why I'm who I am today, because I didn't leave. And I think I made the right choice.

    • Stevie: Do you want to be an artist and a writer, or a wife and a lover? With kids, your focus changes. I don't want to go to PTA meetings.

    • Stevie: By the time I was five, I was a little diva.

    • Stevie: Sara is my most personal song. It's about myself, and what all of us in Fleetwood Mac were going through at the time. The true version of that song is 16 minutes long. It's a saga with many verses people haven't heard.

    • Stevie: All the characters in my songs, the Gypsies, the Saras, they're all me. But they're all different sides of me.

    • Stevie: Dreams was about Lindsey and I, it was me trying to be philosophic once again, whether or not I succeeded I don't know. I love the song Dreams. I never get tired of singing it.

    • Stevie: I wrote Landslide for Lindsey for him, about him. It's dear to both of us because it's about us. We're out there singing about our lives.

    • Stevie: Rhiannon is the heavy-duty song to sing every night. On stage it's really a mind tripper. Everybody, including me, is just blitzed by the end of it. And I put out so much in that song that I'm nearly down. There's something to that song that touches people. I don't know what it is but I'm really glad it happened.

    • Stevie: I've never thought about where I fit in pop culture. If I did, I'd get paranoid, and then I'd be afraid, and I don't do well with fear. I have to believe people will like Trouble In Shangri-La, because this record is my heart and soul, everything I've wanted to say over the last 10 years.

    • Stevie: I wouldn't like to be in movies. Movie people are strange. They live a different life than musicians do. And I really think they're much wilder than we are. One time, four movie guys walked up to me at a party after a show. I was looking good. And they took me apart with their eyes. The hair on my arms stood up.

  • She was born Stephanie Lynn Nicks on May 26, 1948 in Phoenix, Arizona. She is best known as the raspy vocalist of Fleetwood Mac and her mystical image. She is a great singer-songwriter!moreless

I was a fan of hers, since I listened to my parents' Fleetwood Mac albums. She does have a great voice. She dances gracefully, whenever she is on stage, when I watch the concert specials on tv or one of the music videos solo or with Fleetwood Mac. I can sometimes raid her wardrobe including her suede platform boots, which comes in different colors like black, cream, tan or maroon. I adore her very long blonde hair. She has the good maxi dresses, her billowing chiffon skirts, shawls, top hats, and layers of lace. She has pretty long nails whether it is with or without red nail polish. She is the best glam rock goddesses of all time. I am so glad she overcame her addiction to cocaine and the prescribed tranquilizer klonopin. She is really clean right now.moreless
