Stuart was born in Dublin, Ireland. His father Peter Townsend is a famous golf player. When Stuart was young, he loved to watch movies and rented out nearly every movie in his small local video store. As a teenager he attended the ''Gaiety School of Acting'' in Dublin. During his acting there he also participated in a number of student films. He took to boxing and supported himself by playing the sport until his feature debut in the movie ‘’Trojan Eddie’’ (1996). After gaining recognition, and after being spotted by a London agent, he appeared in many stage and film productions through the UK… More and Ireland. His first real initiation into fame, and where his acting began to become noticed, was when he starred in the cult movie ''Queen Of The Damned'', the sequel of ''Interview with a Vampire’’, which starred Brad Pit and Tom Cruise. His other credits include various guest parts and a starring role in US TV shows, including ''Will & Grace'', ''Robot Chicken'', and his short lived thriller series "Night Stalker" He is also the fiancée to the very sexy Charlize Theron too, and is expected to have a new movie called ''Chaos Theory'' out sometime next year.

    What a really great actor. hide show

    What a great actor. He's now my number one since my other number one actor died. Stuart Townsend is so awsome. I have wished for a long time to be able to meet him in person. I've always wanted to see him in person not because he's a really good actor but just because it seems like he would be such a cool friend. I wounder if he hangs out like non tv actor people. I may never really no because a lot of stuff people put out into magazines and what not are not always true. Thank god for really good actors like Stuart Townsend

    This actor is among the greatest of this century. His role on 'Night' is positivly the best performance i have seen him do hide show

    I like this guy. He is the actor that is not quite the 'teen girl crush' but the 'talented dude who kicks butt' Townsend is above all my favorite actor next to his co-star Gabriel Union on Night Stalker. I look forward to more of thsi actor and im shure that what ever he does its gonan be a hit

    the most talented actor I've seen hide show

    In my opinion Stuart Townsend is one of the most talented young actors.No matter a movie is good or bad he plays very very good.I hope some day he'll have tha chance to prove how natural talented he is.It's a pleasure to watch him play in a movie.I advise youto watch his movies(Head in the clouds, Shade, Trapped, Yhe lEague of extraordinary gentlemen, Queen of the damned, About Adam).
