Susan was born in Manila, but brought up in England. Following in her mother's footsteps, she trained as an actress at the Webber Douglas Academy and then joined a repertory company in Worthing, Sussex, where she worked as an assistant stage manager, looked after props, and played bit parts.
After a year, she began to get work in television and film, notably the part of Prue Sorenson in the mini-series 'A Bouquet of Barbed Wire'.
For most of the 1990s, Susan did little acting work, but she is now back, with a new Doctor Who movie, 'Primeval' (2001), touring in Arthur Miller's 'Broken Glass' and in Ira Levin's 'Deathtrap' and also taking on a television role in the 2002 series of 'A Touch of Frost'.
Susan's partner is the English actor Duncan Preston.
