Tanya Kim is an entertainment reporter and the host of etalk, Canada's most-watched entertainment news show.
Kim grew up in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario. A graduate of Ryerson University's journalism program, she began her TV career as a videographer at MuchMusic. Kim went on to become the music reporter for CTV's the Chatroom and was a special correspondent for Season 1 and 2 of Canadian Idol.
Kim has interviewed many musical icons including Cher, Coldplay, David Bowie, Diddy, Janet Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Kanye West. In her current role as the host of etalk, Kim is on the red carpets at the JUNO Awards, the Oscars, and backstage at Live 8 Canada. In July 2007, Kim reported live from London during the Concert for Diana and Live Earth. Kim, and etalk co-host Ben Mulroney, have hosted of Free The Children's We Day youth empowerment events in Toronto and Vancouver.
Kim's acting credits also include appearances in Puppets Who Kill, Degrassi: The Next Generation, Instant Star and Glitter. In February 2010, Kim reported entertainment news from the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games for CTV. TV Guide ranked Kim second in the 2005 list of "Canada's Top 10 newcomers on the verge of a major breakout." Kim also received a Toronto Sun Readers Choice Award for Entertainment TV Reporter.
Kim supports a number of charities including MusiCan, an organization that provides instruments to schools across the country, and is a board member of Blessings In A Backpack, which provides meals for school-aged children in Canada and the US. In 2008 Kim traveled to Zambia as a spokesperson for CARE Canada. numerous charities.
