Tara Dakides is a professional snowboarder, who has won a silver medal in snowoarding at the 2004 Winter X Games, and has won 5 other gold medals at the X Games.
Tara originally started out skiing. Then, when she was 13, she started skateboarding and snowbording. She says that they were basically the same so she just went with it.
Tara says her worst injury was when she was riding a handrail for a practice competition when she caught her board on the rail and fell underneath it. She hit one of the supporting posts with her leg, and broke her leg, tore her ACL (a ligament in your knee), got a concussion, needed 15 stitches in her head, sprained her ankle, and did some nerve damage in her toes.
