He started making television appearances while still in his teens. He was most often cast as high schooler in such made-for-TV films such as "Not My Kid" in 1985 and "Nutcracker: Money, Madness & Murder" in 1987. Born to a large family in Tenafly, New Jersey, he moved to Los Angeles to be closer to the TV industry while attending USC. There he met several fellow actors who turned out to be longtime friends such as Grant Heslov and George Clooney.
He's been engaged to both Sandra Bullock and Jennifer Aniston, and has dated a large group of women such as Whitney Allen and TV actress Lauren Graham.

Tate Donovan is the son of a retired surgeon J. Timothy Donovan & Eileen Donovan. Tate Donovan started his career at a such a young age.He gained notice as an airman on World War 2 theatrical film Memphis Belle (1990). Playing a recovering drug addict on Clean and Sober, opposite Michael Keaton (1988). And a cocky elder camper in Space Camp (1986). Nominated for an Independent Spirit Award in 1994 for his work on "Inside Monkey Zetterland". And yet his biggest success has the voice of animated character Hercules (1997). He likes to play his fiddle with the traditional Irish band The McGuffins. He also enjoys still photography.
