In preparation for his role as a lawyer in Raising the Bar, Teddy flew to New York and watched night court and arraignments with show creator and legal consultant David Feige.
For his role as a public defender from an upper class background on Raising the Bar, Teddy drew inspiration from his own experience of going to private and prestigious schools and of himself being surrounded by rich and privileged people.
His great-grandfather won a gold medal in the 1912 Olympics in athletics while his aunt won an Olympic bronze medal in the 100m butterfly competition in 1956.
Teddy Sears: (on what made him join "Raising the Bar") For me, it always starts with the writing. It certainly helped because it was a Steven Bochco show. He is, arguably, the biggest name in television and has been with exceptions being Aaron Sorkin, John Wells, David E. Kelley, etc.
Teddy Sears: (on his first acting experience on television) I just loved it, I thought it was a real blast! I had no idea what I was doing, but I really fell in love with the work, and very luckily I’ve been able to continue doing it. [Getting into acting] was more curiosity than ambition.
