    • Terrence: (on how he was sidetracked by acting from pursuing a career in music) I'll do a film every year and a half or something, but I'm not going to be distracted by the cute girl at the bar anymore. I'm just feeling the girl that I came here to meet.

    • Terrence: I don't know if I will ever be able to play a character in love because I've never felt that. I've felt passion and lust for a woman but I've never been in love. I'm emotionally bankrupt in that area.

    • Terrence: (on winning awards) I guess everybody wants to hold the belt up just once in their life. Everybody wants to be in the middle of the ring and scream into the camera, 'Ma, I did it!'

    • Terrence: In every person we meet there's this little piece of God in them and that's who you talk to. And that's the only person that you allow to talk to you. When something else is speaking, you walk away from that.

    • Terrence: My future's about trying to be a better man. My future's truly about trying to be a better human being. I can't tell you if one day I'll be standing up there with an Oscar or directing, but I am going to be the best human being I possibly can.

    • Terrence: All the things we have to remember, and I've mentioned this before, is that we're all artists. Every one of us is an artist, and as an artist, you really can stroll into any venue that you want, as long as you take your time to learn the etiquette of that venue.

    • Terrence: (talks about his popularity) I'm still over the moon, and I ain't coming down.

    • Terrence: (when he won an Academy Award) The Oscar is the fantasy that you're afraid to believe in, but in the secrecy of your little dark room, you dream and wait for it.

    • Terrence: My father always said that if you want oranges, you have to go to where the oranges grow. I wanted to act. The place to act was in New York.

    • Terrence: (on doing the movie "Pride") I also think it's an important movie because it's about encouragement. There is so much discouragement in the world today that I think young people need to see another side.

    • Terrence: Life is filled with problems. I am gonna have trouble with any woman that I am with because I am a difficult man, but I might as well have trouble with somebody that I really love.

    • Terrence: (on being a household name after an Oscar nomination and being part of the Oscar Best Picture in 2005, "Crash") The fact that it took 20 years to be an overnight success means that life is really filled with a whole lot of surprises.

    • Terrence: I'm like most people in the world. I'm a little selfish in what I want. I like doing my thing, my way.

    • Terrence: (on what he finds most challenging in playing a superhero) The most challenging thing is to find something super in you, to find something where you take a stand on something or didn't make a compromise cause that's what a superhero is.

    • Terrence: Anything that's dealing with the heart and the spirit is something that should be spoken about, because it lifts and encourages people.
