The Jackson 5 are 5 brother from Gary, Indiana. They are Jackie(1951), Tito(1953), Jermaine(1954), Marlon(1957), and Michael(1958. They were sign to Motown from 1969 to 1975. Their first hits were, I want you back, I'll be there, ABC, and Love you save. In 1972, Michael released his first solo album called Got to be there. Also that year, the had the hit song ,Dancing Machine, which made the dance, the Robot, popular. In 1976, the Jackson 5 signed to Epic Records. Jermaine did not agree to go. He wanted to pursue a solo career with Motown. While signing to Epic records the couldn't keep the name, Jackson 5, because it was legally owned by Motown. So they changed their name to The Jacksons. In 1976, CBS gave the Jackson family a variety show. This was to compete with the very popular group, The Osmonds. From 1976, the Jackson produced albums like, The Jackson(1976), Goin' Places(1977), Destiny(1978), Triumph(1980), Victory(1984), and 2300 Jackson Street(1989). They had many hits like Shake your body(Down to the ground), Enjoy Yorself, and Can you feel it. In 1983, The Jackson re-united in Motown 25 on NBC. This is where Michael sung Billie Jean and showed the world the "moonwalk" for the first time. In 1992, Suzanne de Passe and Jermaine produced the miniseries The Jacksons: An American Dream. It was based on the history of the Jackson family. It covered from when mother and father, Katherine and Joesph Jackson, met to the Jackson 5's success in 1970 to 1984. In 1997 the Jackson were inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Today they are still considered as a legendary group.
