Show Summary

Saved By the Bell focused on Zack Morris and his friends: Samuel "Screech" Powers, Kelly Kapowski, Jessie Spano, A.C. Slater and Lisa Turtle. They had adventures and funny moments at Bayside High School in Palisades, California. They often tried to fool the gullible principal, Mr. Richard Belding,More but also sometimes got advice from him. They regularly hung out at a burger joint called "The Max," which was owned in the first season by a magician named Max.

As the years went by, they had adventures and relationships that lasted a long time. In the third season, the gang spent the summer at Malibu Sands, an exclusive beach club owned by Mr. Carosi, and his daughter Stacey Carosi, whom Zack fell in love with.

The final season saw the arrival of a new cast member, Tori Scott, who took the place of Kelly and Jessie when Tiffani-Amber Thiessen and Elizabeth Berkley left the show in mid-season. The show ended with the gang graduating and heading off to college in the spin-off series Saved by the Bell: the College Years. There was also another spin-off to this show called Saved by the Bell: TNC.

Saved By the Bell began as a short-lived comedy/drama series named Good Morning, Miss Bliss, which focused on teacher Miss Bliss and her students at John F. Kennedy Junior High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. After the show was cancelled by the Disney Channel, NBC picked up 4 of the characters (Zack, Screech, Lisa and Mr. Belding) and turned it into a new Saturday morning series called Saved by the Bell, which became more of a comedy concentrating on the antics of the students and was re-located to Bayside High School in Pacific Palisades, California.

  • What did you think about the Jessie taking drugs episode?

So Jessie is busy with her studies and her singing career with Lisa and Kelly. She is feeling the pressure so much that she begins taking pills to stay awake. Then comes a part of bad acting. Jessie stands by the locker , slater comes around and wants to borrow a pen. Help yourself Jessie says.More And here comes the incredible bad part , slater picks up the bag and finds the pills. That scene felt so awkward because they were both acting so poorly. The whole time i was thinking this story line i so overdone in other series. slater tells Zack but he doesn't believe him Then when Jessie has fallen asleep in her bedroom Zack comes by and tells her that she needs to perform with Kelly and Lisa. She gets up and freaks out i just need to take my pills and i''lle be alright. ow my god Zack thinks you are taking drugs. Jessie becomes hysterical and Zack comforts her. Later she lying in her bed and says that she takes on too many things. Lisa and Kelly tell her that they might have pushed her too much. So you can be a drug addict in one single episode and the next one theres another problem that's fixed in a single episode. This isn't realistic people! Here's another story line. Screech is getting tired of being the class clown so he gets so down that he starts taking alcohol from a group of so called cool kids with a bad reputation. He begins to drift away from the friends.Zack sees him drinking in the parking lot and tells the others but they don't believe him. Then Lisa spots him drinking in class when screech pulls out a beer bottle and secretly drinks under the table. Then he makes an ass of his self. He gets up wobbles and starts ranting to his friends. Yeah how do you like me know huh Zack ? my close friends. He smashes his bottle against the table and starts pointing it towards his friends. All i want is some f..... respect. Mister belding comes around and they get him to the school nurse. Later screech is back at school and apologizes to his friends i'm sorry you guys i shouldn't have done that. You know sometimes i feel like i'm a joke to you guys. Zack : of course not screech we all love you just the way you are. Lisa : sure sometimes we kid around but we all love you. screech: can i get a kiss then? Lisa: no way geek!

    Still remember it! hide show

I liked the show back in the nineties. I can see the intro music behind my eyes. Lately it airs on nick. I liked the characters on the show. What i notice is that it deals with teenage problems, maybe a little bit cheesy and unrealistic at times. But still recognizable to this day. Of course then they didn't all have cellphones (however i saw Zack with a brick once ) they weren't addicted to their computer with all of todays social media. You had to stay on the house phone if you wanted to talk to someone. Everybody from that time must remember their parents saying time to knock off the phone. I believe that this is like the first teen comedy drama series ever. In my opinion it's better then todays teen drama series. With meaningless plot lines and stories. Although saved by the bell could get a little bit cheesy around the edges. First its all comedy and then drama all of the sudden.

Good clean teen comedy!! hide show

This show revolves around 6 teenagers in their schools facing normal problems and solutions to get threw them. Each teen has their own personality: The jock, the geek, the cool guy and girl, the acheiver, and the fashion nista. And the goofy principal, Mr. Belding, threw in some real comedy.

The comedy on this show was good and clean, no sexual comedy ecspeacally. The problems they faced such as Drugs, alchohol, drunk driving, studying for tests and much more. It has entertained many generations.

I would definetly recremend it for a family show. I give it a good 10 outta 10!!

    1 Abysmal
Terrible, trite, bottom-of-the-bucket programming. hide show

How can anyone actually "like" this show? It's really predictable. It's not smart, or clever, or interesting. All the worst stereotypes of high school together in one pointless show. The bimbo-ization of the women in the show was disgusting. Most of the characters can't act their way out of a paper bag but then again, look what they had to work with. No one should ever waste one moment of their lives on this dribble. There are much smarter shows about American kids in high school. This show has always made me cringe on so many levels. This show may remind people of "growing up" because they watched it then but no one can honestly say it's a "good" series.

A good, clean teen show. hide show

Saved by the Bell is much better than the teen shows we have on now a days. This show dealt with several realistic problems, but being able to still mantain a clean enviorment. Mr. Belding is one of the best principals I've ever seen on TV; he's so hilarious, so fair, and so reasonable all at the same time. At the time this show was running, they had good young actors/actresses who did a good job at their parts. Of course, this show could occassionally get cheesey and the humor could've improved a little bit but all in all it was a pretty dang good show. I really like to watch the re-runs of this show. Grade: 90/100.

A show that'll never be forgotten (hopefully). hide show

Ending in 1993, Saved by the Bell was a story of a laid-back high schooler, Zack Morris, and his five friends, Jessie Spano, the smart and radical girl, A.C. Slater, the Jock, Samuel "Screech" Powers, the weird nerd, Kelly Kapowski, the dream girl, and Lisa Turtle, the extravagant and fashionable one. They lived in southern California and went to Bayside, one of many public co-ed schools in the area. Outside of Bayside, they often hung out at the Max, the local restaurant once owned by their good friend Max, who eventually leaves the show. At school, the gang is often hounded by their principal Richard Belding, a mid-aged man who still believes he's "in". However, the gang befriends him over the years and love to mess with him. This show covers many of the conflicts within a teenager's life, such as relationships, friendships, jealousy, and the life ahead of them. However, their friendship carries them through.

This show's lack of flashy scenery, the realistic lifestyle, and the sometimes unrealistic experiences kept the audience intrigued for this show's 4 year run, and its popularity is still prevalent today.
