Born January 4, 1964 in Queens, New York, Tom attended St. Margret's grammar school, and Archbishop Molloy High School.
While in high school, Tom was a member of the school's track team, where he held the school record in the pole vault for 20 years, until it was broken in 2002. After graduation, he spent 3 years at the State University of New York at Binghamton where he studied History, before he left to become a New York City Firefighter, following in his father's footsteps.
In 2001, Tom voiced how proud he was at how fast his department responded during the 9/11 attacks. Afterwards, he said that what he learned through that ordeal was to not sweat the small stuff, love your family, and to live life to the fullest. Right now, he's working on finishing his degree at Queen's College and at the City University of New York, where when finished, Tom will have his Bachelor of Arts degree in History. Since his retirement from firefighting, Tom is planning to start a career as a motivational speaker. After his appearance on Survivor: Palau, Tom made it into TV Guide's "sexiest man" list.
Currently, Tom lives in Sayville, New York with his wife, 3 children, and one dog.
