He is currently (Feb. 2008 ) married, and he has two daughters.

He is 167 cm (5'5.6") tall, weighs 61 kilos (134.5 lbs.) and has a shoe size of 24.5 cm (0.8').

He usually voices characters who are very serious or easily agitated (like Sanzo in Saiyuki, Duo Maxwell in Gundam Wing, Iruka Umino in Naruto and Kaien Shiba in Bleach)

He holds the rank of 2nd Dan in Kendo.

Reading and kite-flying are among his hobbies.

His favorite music is J-Pop artist Utada Hikaru's music, and his favorite food is teppanyaki. Furthermore, his favorite animals are cats, his favorite flowers are roses and his favorite color is blue.

Some of his previous aspirations were to be a martial artist, a politician, and an astronaut.

He has released one solo CD: Kicks on the Way (23.05.1990).

His bloodtype is A.

In June 2004, he ranked as the 9th most popular seiyū in Animage Magazine's 26th Annual Reader's Poll.

He has voiced several characters which were also voiced by the American voice actor Richard Cansino in the dubs of the respective shows: Legato Bluesummers in Trigun, Takaya Ohgi and Kagetora Uesugi in Mirage of Blaze, Yurimaru in Ninja Scroll, and finally, Kall-su in Bastard!

He worked with fellow seiyū Soichiro Hoshi on several anime in which their characters had strong relationships.

As of August 2007, he has done voice-over work for 181 anime series, making him one of the more veteran seiyūs, and he's done the same amount of voice-over work as fellow seiyūs Tomomichi Nishimura and Nobuo Tobita.

He is often confused with another seiyū; Tomokazu Seki, becaue their surnames are spelled the same in kanji.

Aside from his main occupation is as a seiyū, he has also done live-action drama work.
