Tracie Nicole Thoms is a Baltimore, Maryland, native who has studied acting since she was 9. As a child, she dreamed of being on Junior Star Search. She received a BFA from Howard University and her graduate degree from The Juilliard School. She grew up in a very close-knit family and cites her heros as her mother, father, and grandfather.Tracie made her Broadway debut in Regina Taylor's 'Drowning Crow'. She has also appeared in several off-Broadway and regional productions.
Tracie is best known as Mahandra McGinty on the TV show Wonderfalls. She has also made guest appearances on Law & Order and The Shield. Recently, Tracie has become a reaccuring guest star on the crime drama Cold Case. She has also appeared in many movies, most notably Joanne Jefferson in the 2005 film version of the Broadway musical RENT. Tracie saw RENT original Broadway cast and fell in love with it, auditioning every year for eight years, but never getting a role. Playing Joanne in the movie, alongside her idols was a dream come true for her. Tracie hosted a special premire of RENT in her hometown of Baltimore and can be seen on the RENT DVD special feature "No Day But Today."
Currently, Tracie is filming the City Lights Pictures movie 'Descent' along with Rent co-stars Wilson Jermaine Heredia and Rosario Dawson. Tracie loves singing, but is currently focusing on her acting career. She says that if she ever did make an album, it would be neosoul. Currently she lives in the New York City area.
