Vernon Wells is an Australian actor best known for his villainous roles in action flicks such as Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior (1981) and Commando (1985). Born on December 31, 1945 in Rushworth, Victoria, Australia, Wells first came to prominence with appearances on Australian television shows such as Homicide, Matlock Police and All the Rivers Run. His first film appearance was in Felicity (1979) a low-budget, erotic fantasy film. Following Felicity, Wells played the psychotic Wez in Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior. His appearance in the Mad Max sequel brought Wells his widest exposure, but also led to him being typecast as a villain. He came to Hollywood, appearing in the John Hughes film Weird Science (1985), where he spoofed his psychotic image. Wells had a role in the Arnold Schwarzenegger action flick Commando (1985) and in Innerspace (1987) a science fiction comedy that also featured Martin Short and Dennis Quaid. Vernon Wells continues to act and is a favorite amongst Mighty Morphin Power Rangers fans following his role on the Power Rangers: Time Force television series.
