Amanda Laura Bynes was born on April 3, 1986 in Thousand Oaks, California. The youngest of three children, she became interested in acting and performing from the very young age of three, when she would say her older sister Jillian's lines with her while she performed in plays. It was from then on that her family and friends knew that she would be a star some day.
Her acting debut was in 1996 when she auditioned for and got the role as a newcomer on All That. Right away, she became very popular as people enjoyed her acting and skits, especially the "Ask Ashley" skit… More where she played a little girl running an advice column who would get very angry every time she read a letter.
In 1999, thirteen-year-old Amanda was given her own variety show, The Amanda Show, in which she starred in all of the skits except "Totally Kyle".
In 2001, she co-starred with Frankie Muniz in Big Fat Liar as Kaylee, Jason's friend who helps him prove that he really did write the essay "Big Fat Liar" and regain his father's trust. It was also in 2001 that she began dating Taran Killam, from The Amanda Show and Big Fat Liar, who is four years and two days older than she is. She also won a Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Award and, at age fifteen, ended The Amanda Show.
In 2002, she began co-starring with Jennie Garth in What I Like About You as Holly, a 16-year-old girl who moves in with her sister after their father decides to move to Japan. She also celebrated her Sweet Sixteenth birthday and got her drivers license on April 3, 2002.
In 2003, Amanda won two KCA Awards and starred as Daphne, a girl searching for her father in What A Girl Wants with Colin Firth and Kelly Preston as her parents. She continued acting in What I Like About You and broke up with Taran.
On April 3, 2004, Amanda celebrated her eighteenth birthday on the 17th Annual KCA Awards where we she won an award for best actress for her role in What A Girl Wants. She graduated from Thousand Oaks High School's independent study program on June 10, 2004 and began filming for What I Like About You's third season over the summer.
What I Like About You continued for a total of four seasons, ending on the 24th of March, 2006, after Amanda and the producers decided not to continue the show to a fifth season. A week before its finale, Amanda made a return to the big screen when She's The Man opened in cinemas. The film was a modern-day transformation of William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, and sees Amanda starring as Viola Hastings, a lover of soccer who is forced to disguise herself as her brother at his school in order to keep playing after the girl's team was cut. The film also starred Channing Tatum, David Cross and Laura Ramsey.
Before she filmed She's The Man, Amanda had filmed Lovewrecked, a romantic comedy, however the film spent a couple of years in limbo trying to attain a distributor, and was eventually released in selected cinemas overseas in 2005, before premiering in the US on the small screen on the ABC Family network on January 21, 2007.
Part of an ensemble cast in the massively successful musical Hairspray, which starred John Travolta, Christopher Walken, Michelle Pfeiffer and Queen Latifah. Amanda played the part of Penny Pingleton. That year Amanda also released her first line of clothing, "Dear By Amanda Bynes" which was launched in August through the Steve & Barry's retail clothing chain. Through many TV interviews she conducted that year, mainly in relation to the release of Hairspray, Amanda spoke out against alcohol, drugs and the party set, as often characterised by her peers, and setting herself apart from the people associated in those realms.
At the end of 2007 the next of her film's was released, Sydney White, a modern-day college take on the story of Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs, where Amanda plays the title character. The film received largely negative reviews and only made a small box office return.
In 2008 Amanda won the Critic's Choice Award as part of the ensemble cast for Hairspray. Amanda is set to star in the made-for-television movie Living Proof with Harry Connick Jr.

I have been an Amanda fan since she was in what a girl wants. I love her in that movie. I think she is so talented and genuine. Seems she didn't let the fame take the best of her and i highly respect her for that. She's a good women to look up too. Alot of stars you can't say that about. My favorite appearance that amanda starred in was "what i like about you". I love that show. Amanda seems to care about her fans. Thats alot. Amanda bynes is gonna end up being another Julia Roberts. #1 Fan, Winny look alike
a real upcoming start...and young she may go places~
Although I haven't seen her since "The Amanda Show," I still remember Amanda Bynes as a hilarious actress with real talent and a down to earth personality. Wait, I did see another show with her in it (don't remember the name) but she did her part well. She's also done well in some movies, one of them where she dressed up as a guy. I don't remember that one much, but I knew I enjoyed the film. Anyway, I'm saying that Amanda Bynes is one of those few actresses in Hollywood with talent, charisma, and a good head on her shoulders.
I first saw her in her very own show "The Amanda Show!" and she is great! hide show
I totally loved her from "The Amanda show" she can totally do comedy! her acting is just brilliant and amazing. she is very entertaining. she is also very fabulous. She is a very good role model, You can barely see gossip about her in the tabloids, My favorite movie from her was "She's The Man" I can see she can totally act like a guy, since she had some guy roles in the amanda show. I love the fact she can change her voice! she is very awesome! I'd like to see her upcoming movies! I loved her when I was a child and I still love her now.
