Sportscaster who ranks as one of the most annoying and obtuse personalities in broadcasting. Though he has broadcast many different sports, Marv is best known to the public as the lead play-by-play man for NBC's NBA coverage. A sex scandal in 1997 temporarily derailed Marv's career at the Peacock Network but like the Phoenix he rose from the ashes a few years later to resume his position at the network. When NBC lost the rights to televising NBA games, Marv's tenure at the network was wisely terminated but he re-surfaced at TNT. He was also the play-by-play broadcaster of New York Knick… More games for more than 30 years until being fired in 2004 by management after he criticized the on-court performance of the team. Sadly for New Jersey Nets fans, Marv was soon hired to broadcast games for that franchise in addition to his TNT duties.
As much as 24 fans revel in Jack Bauer’s ability to outsmart and out-tough whatever gets thrown at him, the man is not a super-hero.
