Phil Hendrie's radio show starred himself, a ventriloquist Phil specialized in voice acting. He would create outrageous characters to have a debate with, then an unwitting caller would find themselves the victim of a hilarious prank. An example of one of Phil's shows would star say Bobbie Dooley the president of the Western Estates Home Owners Association (in reality Phil) who along with her husband (also Phil) would create an outrageous rule such as banning wheel chair ramps from the front of the house because it would give the impression that "a bunch of crips lived" there. This type of format led to Phil's show getting nationally syndicated on over 100 radio stations across the U.S.
