Play of the Month is a collection of plays produced by BBC-1 that aired roughly once per month, initially on Tuesdays and later on Sunday evenings. Although a small number of the plays were written specifically for the series, the majority were adaptations of classic stage works of British and other well-known playwrights. The plays featured many familiar stage performers, as well as some newcomers who later achieved stardom.
