Not too bad of a cop show, give it a shot. hide « show »

A pretty good cop show. If this is a show that you do not normally watch and you are sitting at home with nothing to do, you are going to wish you had it on tape. Having it "on tape" had become the generic term for recorded programs. Today you are more likely to have the show on Tivo or DVR than VHS, or god forbid Beta!! It is kind of like how a lot of people still call CD's "records" or "albums." Anyway, back to the show. This is the type of show that is really pretty good if you would just give it a chance. So on those cold, lonely, rainy days, pop in your tape or DVR or whatever if you were smart enough to tape it. If not, check to see if it is on as a re-run. After all, as they say, if you have never seen it, it is new to you. Not too bad of a cop show, give it a shot.

First Season is by far the best hide « show »

This show ended up far different from how it started.
It's first season was easily the best, with Angie Dickinson chewing the scenery as Sgt. Pepper, and Earl Holliman, well-cast as her boss.

In year 1, she was competent and cool, sexy and tough, the show taut, moody and atmospheric '70s-style, and it hit Number One within seven or eight months of premiering--- it became the first successful TV drama series to feature a woman in the title role. Its early success directly inspired things like "Charlie's Angels", "Wonder Woman", etc., and still later, the more-reality based "Cagney & Lacy".

By season 2, however, Pepper was toned down in every imaginable way: not only her appearance, but the way she spoke, and gazed at her co-stars--- in a pressured attempt to de-sexualize Angie, they wound up weaknening her, curiously enough, and the scripts and direction followed.

As a result, season 2 and 3 are hit-and-miss; and season 4 fails outright.

But season 1 is the show "Police Woman" was intended to be.

    10 Perfect

In the Netherlands this show was named "Pepper", and it was very popular. Angie Dickinson did a great job, she had the leading role for sure, and the actors were cool as well. I'd love to see reruns of this show for sure! hide « show »

Angie Dickinson did a superb job as the police woman sgt Pepper.
She was one of the first female cops on tv I believe....and she was very popular!
In the Netherlands this show was named "Pepper", and Angie was very pleased with that fact when she found out during an interview.
