Do you think Punk'd is intended in as a good-natured prank show? |

I was spotting a link to a revenge prank show, and I remembered how I watched an episode of Punk'd involving Kirsten Dunst. It seems that Kirsten Dunst got Ashton's number, but didn't call him. So, he had some 'friends' of hers get her drunk, got into a fake car accident, and had her harassed by some guy posing as a police officer calling her such endearing terms as 'hussy'. He then continued to take advantage of her drunken state until he said she was under arrest for some half-***ed charge, at which point Ashton showed up to reveal he had orchestrated this thing because he would not accept being snubbed. I wouldn't mind this nearly as much if it wasn't for the fact that Ashton himself can't take any antagonization of this sort, and he made sure those important to him would not be pranked because he wanted to keep their trust. I've seen ads for other pranks, and it just seems to be the enactments of a hypocritical megalomaniac's fantasies supported only by his courage and MTV. He blows up on paparazzi, and then I believe he buys the photos so no one else sees them. He has a pilot for another prank show where he essentially surprises a couple(not celebrities) with what they are to think is a dead body in their hotel room and have to go through what they think is a police investigation, while trying to destroy evidence of him being caught in a prank at a security checkpoint. Now, this sort of show seems to be replacing actual performance art, and I wonder how many talented performers have had enough of Ashton's brand of **** already. If I'm missing something or have something wrong, please respond below, because I just do not get it. |

You do realize that what he said was not true
If you watch the Nelly Furtado episode he says that he and Nelly rode horses down the beach and it cuts to a clip of their faces cropped onto two people riding horses It's not true and most of the stuff he says about the celebrities in the opening are false And considering how almost every single celebrity signs the waver for it to air means they allow it to be shown |

You said: "wouldn't mind this nearly as much if it wasn't for the fact that Ashton himself can't take any antagonization of this sort"
This is incorrect, as I think in the first season (may be the seconds season), His fellow producer and actors play a prank on Ashton where he is thrown to the ground (and might i add quite violently) as a Punk'd, but Ashton had already found out what was going to happen and had Britney spears to help him turn the Punk'd back onto the producer and other actors. At the end when he tells everyone they have been 'punk'd' he says something along the lines of "Got to have a sense of humor". So i honestly belive Ashton can take one of his own pranks.
As for not finding it funny or what not. I find it funny as hell. If other people didnt find it funny or were not willing to watch it, then Punk'd would not be onto season 8 and still pulling successful pranks. The whole humor of this show is based around watching people to react to surreal situations and see how they deal with it. With the media today, celebrities are made out to be these 'perfect' human beings - Rich, Beautiful and 'untouchable' and Ashton shows the viewers that even though they have all this fame they can stil be tricked into things and be caught out just like any person on the street and how some people would be like "haha... Ashton is saying Punk'd and he's still not picking up on it.. I would have realised by now" and alot of these actors/singers/rich people actually say that and explains to the viewers in the wraparounds why he is punking that selected celebrity.
All in all i think Punk'd is a great TV show with some hillarious scenes and i cant wait for more season to hit the shelves in store (if they ever do) |

Okay, I would like to admit I don't dislike Ashton, I HATE him for he is a wanker, plain and simple.
However, I do love the show because the jokes are just meant to be a bit of fun. If you watch the end, you'll see that usually they end up laughing. |

The only reason I watch the show is because you get to see candid footage of your favorite people. I don't kno where else you can see what these people are like in reality.
