Sam is shocked to discover that the actor he has leaped into, Kyle Hart, is written into every scene of "Moments to Live".

This is especially comical, as Scott Bakula (as Sam) is in every scene of Quantum Leap in most episodes. (edit) Matthew Ashford, who plays the TV husband on the soap opera, also stars in the real-life soap opera "Days of Our Lives" as Jack Deveraux. (edit)

Sam: I'm in a soap opera!
Al: We prefer "daytime drama".
Sam: We...? You watch this stuff?
Al: Well, Tina had me watching some of this stuff when I was down with the flu, and Sam, everybody...
Sam: I know...
Al: ...is sleeping...
Sam: I know...
Al: ...with everybody!
Sam: I know! (edit) Sam: You just gonna sit over there during this whole thing?
Hank: You got a better idea?
Sam: As a matter of fact, I do. Why don't you two get back on your spaceship and go back to whatever planet it is you came from! (edit) Norma Jean: Don't mind him.
Sam: It's kind hard to ignore a man - your husband - sitting over there in a chair with a shotgun! (edit) Sam: (Trying to find money for a payphone) Do you have a quarter?
Al: A quarter? No, I don't have a quarter. I'm a hologram! (edit)

Ironically, Brian George, who plays Kyle's agent Ben, later went on to quest star on the family sitcom Step by Step episode "My Bodyguard" as a college's Dean of Admissions named "Dean Stockwell."

When a character in that episode realized his name was Dean Stockwell, he replied, "please, no Quantum Leap jokes." (edit)

Al points out that Norma's maiden name was Bates, which is a reference to Norman Bates in the movie Psycho. (edit) When Norma Jean takes Sam to her "mother's house", she says that her mother's favorite doctor is there, to which the old woman replies in joy: "Ben Casey's here?"

Ben Casey was the main character of a medial drama series of the same name that aired from 1961 to 1966, known for its melodramatic soap opera-esque performances. (edit) One of the technicians for "Moments to Live" says that the man Sam leaps into "thinks he's Olivier."

This is a reference to Sir Lawrence Olivier, a famous british actor regarded by some to be the greatest actor of the twentieth century.

The technician is implying that the man Sam leaps into believes himself to be just as good as Olivier, an obviously impossible task. The techinician implies that the man Sam leaps into is an egotistical bad actor. (edit) The title of this episode, Moments to Live, is a reference to the real soap One Life to Live. (edit)
