Teddy Wilson, who plays Jimmy Grady, will be seen again as Ernie Tyler in Rebel Without a Clue in season 3.

This is the 2nd instance of Sam leaping into a Black man. It is also one of the several instances where Al is able to help Sam due to his personal experience; Al ran away from the orphanage in his youth, in this case learning how to play pool.

Violet: It's good for the singing.
Sam: It's hard on the soul. (edit) Al: Oh Sam, not the head again! Every time we Leap in we gotta go talk in the men’s room. It’s disgusting.
Sam: Can you think of a better place to talk?
Al: The ladies' room? (edit) Sam: (to Al, after Al shows him the geometry of the pool table) Pythagoras, we are gonna shoot some pool! (edit) Sam: (to loan officer) You've made it. Maybe it took you twice as long, but you've made it. And being the first bears some responsibility to those who are trying to make it behind you. (edit) Jimmy: Sweet shot, now you're hot. Magic's on the Nine.
Eddie: I told you to shut up!
Jimmy: Well, telling don't mean doing. (edit)

When Sam is singing at the piano with Violet he's wearing a clean white undershirt. But when he gets up to talk to Al the front of his undershirt is drenched with sweat.
