So Mike gets propositioned by a good looking guy at Babylon but turns him down because of his relationship with David. The man says he is in a relationship as well but things change. Brian leaves Babylon early to take off to the bath house, which seems to be basically a huge orgy for gay men. In his walk through Brian runs into the last person he would expect to see there, David! I don't understand why after all this time, everything they've been through together, after David fighting so hard for Mike, why he would do this to him. I kind of thought he was different. So this was the ultimate dirt to have over David so Brian could maybe finally kick him out of the picture, but i had also wondered if Brian did something with David. David tells Mike about what he does at the bath house and Mike is ticked, so he goes to see the boys. They advise him to go get his jollies as well, so he calls up the guy from Babylon, they have a frolic, and he goes back and tells David about it in detail, but says he realized he didn't want to be with this other guy so he made him stop, because it didn't mean anything. So after this they decide to yet again start over. I've got to say i was a little surprised that Brian didn't jump at the chance to run back and tell Mike about this. In the meantime Justin has been accepted to Dartmouth which is where his parents want him to go, but he really wants to go to the Pittsburgh Institute of Fine Arts. When Deb informs him that he was in fact accepted there everyone is excited...for a while. However, after Justin finds out his mother is selling the house and his parents are getting a divorce, he decides to "give up" art to attend Dartmouth because he feels he's caused them enough pain and that the divorce is his fault. Debbie as usual tries to talk some sense in him with her usual charm. Later on Brian finds out about it and gives Justin a reality check. Listening to Brian, Justin finds out that Brian remembers more about their first night together than maybe he lets on. Mel and Linze gave Justin a nice art kit to go to art school with. On the other side of things, the boys are all at Babylon and low and behold guess what ghost shows up out of the blue, tripping his face off? Blake. He spots Ted and tries to dance with him and Emmett steps in and keeps pushing him away. Later on Ted finds Blake unconscious on the bathroom floor and no one will help. He winds up staying the night at the hospital with Blake, the one who put him into a drug induced coma...what are the chances? What goes around comes around. I can't believe Ted stayed though. Not only does he stay, but he allows Blake to come stay at his place since he has nowhere to go except for a drug house. Blake makes a nice dinner to say thank you and they make out. Later, Ted discovers that his wallet is missing and he accuses Blake of taking it, which i thought too at first. Blake did seem sincere when he said he didn't take it, but then again drug addicts become masters of manipulation and professional liars. Ted throws him out and when Emmett is later telling him he did the right thing, Ted finds his wallet. He wants to find Blake to apologize. Great episode, can't wait to see what happens next.
So Brian's expecting to find the same hunky guys when he goes to the baths, right? Well he did find someone new there... David. And he tries hard to keep the secret from Michael, but he's torn on what's the right thing to do. With Michael feeling betrayed, he calls a hunky guy of his own that hit on him early on in the episode. By doing this, he tries to get back at David for what happened at the baths. Justin gets shocking news that his parents are getting divorced, and blames himself for their spliting up. He gives up his dreams of being an artist, to pursue a career in business: what his dad wants for him. Thank god that Brian's able to talk some sense into Justin. He convinces him that it's his life and his future. With this, Justin goes towards being the next Andy Warhol. This episode is just further proof of why Brian and Justin need each other and why they should be together. They somehow in the end always motivate each other to do the right thing. They want the best for each other, which is why their relationship is essential to the show. Another great episode.
Dartmouth or Pittsburgh Institute of Fine Art? hide show
The first to make his parents happy, and the second to make himself happy. Thank goodness he chooses the latter, or else he would've been miserable. And he would be without Brian, which is just unheard of and unacceptable. We have to give Brian time to fall in love with Justin, and that can't happen if he goes to Dartmouth. Brian takes the trouble to make Justin understand the importance of living life for himself and not for someone else. If that means defying his parents wishes, then that's what he needs to do. When Brian tells Justin that "there's no turning back", I think he is applying that statement both to Justin and himself. Now that Justin has turned into a "big queer he can't go back in the closet and hide from who he really is. It's out there, and there's no denying it. Similarly, now that Brian has grown attached to Justin, there's no letting him go, and he'll be damned to let Justin go through his life unsatisfied. Brian had to have seen something in Justin from the very first night he met him to stick by him so long and to try to make him the best homosexual he could. Before, Justin had to go out of his way to make Brian see him, for Brian to take an interest. But at this point, Brian can't help but involve himself in Justin's life. Somehow, Justin managed to get himself in under the wire, and now Brian cares for him in a way he's never cared for anyone else.
There's no turning back for either of them.
This episode gave me something I did not expect! hide show
I didn't what was to happen in this episode or even know anything about it prior to my viewing. Oh my god, was I surprised! The second you know who turned around at the baths I wanted to smack you know who across the face. It was so unexpected and awesome!
When Brian discovered David at the baths I knew that things would not go over well. And I was right with Brian, thinking that David might not tell Michael. Then when he did that look on Michael's face is so emotional and devestating, I mean I felt so hurt for him.
As he realizes that Brian and David were at the baths together he looks so shocked that he hadn't even realized it before, he is such a heart breaker with that face.
