This comes under the heading of a show that I shouldn't have enjoyed but did immensely. hide « show »

A very sexy show that will get anyone with a pulse hot under the collar. I myself am openly gay, I don't recall ever seeing a gay themed episode (which isn't to say there wasn't one) and yet I got hooked. I found a few episodes in my local video store then craved more. One of the episodes I had trouble finding was the first one - which led to me ringing many video stores asking if they had "safe sex" :) There is a fantastic episode featuring Matt LeBlanc - let's just say his character is not reminiscant of Joey, and an unforgettable rendition of Auld Lang Syne. The episodes are woven together with a fitting performance by David Duchovany as Jake, a guy who gets sexy stories sent to him - which we then see. 10/10, 5 stars, two thumbs up - this show has it - perfect for a rainy afternoon spent with your boyfriend/girlfriend etc

A hot, sexy show with one hot sexy host! hide « show »

Of course I'm going to say that this is a "guilty pleasure" show. It's a bit more sexual than most shows I like but when you add in the host and guest star, David Duchovny, I have to call this show a guilty pleasure. I did like several episodes and thought the entire wrap around story about how Jake started the "Red Shoe Diaries" was just magnificent. I have never read anything about how Mr. King came up with the idea for the show, but I would be interested in finding that out. I wouldn't recommend it to just anyone, but if you enjoy good romance with a nice spicy bit of sex thrown in, the movie is highly recommended.

Not exactly a bad way to past time. Although I have had more enjoyable moments. Red Shoe Diaries does have its high points although I certainly wished there were more of them. It left me bored not long after I was exposed to it and that certainly is not saying something entirely positive about it. Nonetheless, it is very well packaged so a 7 rating I feel is very fair.

Ok....I am an old fan of Red Shoe Diaries and have been searching for the song used in a old episode of Red Shoe Diaries ... it was the song used for the death scene of Shane. It was when Him and her were at the lookout and He died in her arms...if anyone can save my hair from anymore pulling out of frustration i would be greatly appreciative.

Laughably bad hide « show »

Soft-core porn posing as art, with plots that make even the most clumsily-written romance novel look erotic in comparison. David Duchovny must've really needed the bucks to do this show at the time; I felt really sorry for him playing such a sappy character as the lovelorn host "Jake." A particularly low point in his career occurs with the episode "Jake's Story," in which we get to see Jake indulging in adultery to overcome the angst of remembering his late fiancee. Huh? Not exactly the way I would honor a lost love's memory. Even the dog seemed bored in listening to Duchovny's opening and closing monologues, reading the diaries aka plots -- true, Masterpiece Theater it ain't, but does anyone really watch a skin-flick for deep and meaningful insights into the human condition? Totally pretentious to the point of absurdity, watch this show when you really need a good laugh.
