Sorry TV.com, but you really screwed us over with this new layout. I am really upset about the new layout here, is there any way possible to return to the old one? Or as someone suggested in another topic, can users choose which one they like better?

Please don't shove this away and be all like "We'll work out the bugs and make it wonderful... bla bla bla..." Please actually try to work with the users here so that we can get a design we're all happy with. Because at this point, a lot of users are ready to leave, and i don't blame them at all.

you've got my vote too. tv.com owes its users that much at least, especially considering the "Surprise!! Happy Blindess!" we were all treated to

You've got my vote too, but seriously, don't in a million years expect TV.com to revert their actions. They've never done it before, and they're hardly going to start now...

This site is so user orientated, would a few trial pages have been too much to ask for?

Asking for users feedback and input before completely overhauling would have been nice since a lot of users spend a lot of time making this site

This site is not on the least user-oriented. It's designed by and for designers, and always has been. Utility is never a consideration.

Now, the old TV Tome- that was user-oriented.

I'm trying to give the new look a shot, but it bothers me that I can barely edit anything. I've resorted to going to one of the sister sites (mostly Movie Tome) just to comment on my friends' blogs.

TheOldBill got it right in one. Too bad TV.com doesn't care about the users. They'll never admit they were wrong and return to the old format or give users a choice. This version is difficult to use. Ever hear of beta-testing?

They're THE DECIDERs and they must STAY THE COURSE! Like the administration that made my uppercase words famous, this is stupid, not what the people really wanted in the first place and is causing many people (me included) to seriously consider going somewhere else.

I am aware that TV.com tried to listen to the users when designing the new layout and adding things that people had wished for but in the end, I think the site should have at least kept old appearance if nothing else. It is always a risk to make this big changes after having kept a layout for a long time; sometimes it works but this attempt was not successful.

You really believe that? I thought the line was tired old PR-puff. The redesign gives me nothing I asked form and nothing I wanted. It does however introduce a lot of thngs that it seems nobody asked for. It also managed to break a few things that were working before. When the site has revised its background colour, overseas visitors have a choice of a U.S. or local interface, and, a few months from now, most of the things that developers broke this week are fixed (and there has never been a complete recovery from the damage caused with the upgrade to v2.0 or the 2007's change to the submission forms) the new site architecture ensures that data will be less easy to negotiate and manage than it was at the beginning of the week.

Layout in terms of color and positions of windows, or what some sites call "skins" and "dashboard" should ideally be customized for the user's experience. If people don't like all the white, they should have the inverse color option. That inverse background option was built in on Gamespot 2.0; was it taken away there too?

Layout should also be easy and not have redundant submenus and extra clicks to get to essential content information.

Layout should not mean redoing the entire submission interface, and expecting your END CUSTOMER, the one that determines your revenue, to do all the testing for you.

That said, I'd like to see a return to the TV.com 1.0 layout for submissions, you know, the one with the CHECKBOXES to add show cast and crew, a simple Search for Actor that pops up all the names in a scrollbox. You can keep the 2.0 aspect of changing role names, season tags, and types, episode renumbering and cast ordering tools.

Staying the course is what sank the Titanic, so I hope they don't.

The old design was much better than this broken and ugly thing.

I use the new "white" skin on Gamespot and it does seem to be less white than TV.com. Here's a side-by-side comparison of a profile page of Gamespot vs. TV.com.
