Definitely one of my favorite actors...and Det. Sgt. Munch is definitely one of the best characters on SVU. I really don't think SVU knows what they have. I find it sad that the show has been using Richard Belzer less and less as the series goes on, to the point where the Munch character has pretty much been reduced to running the squad's errands. That's kind of pathetic, seeing that Richard Belzer is a good actor in his own right, having already shown this in a seven-season run with Homicide: Life on the Street. For that matter, I wouldn't be surprised if there are a lot of H:LOTS fans who only crossed over to SVU once H:LOTS was canceled just because Richard Belzer agreed to come back and reprise the role of Munch. I feel that Richard Belzer has more than proven himself as an actor, and that he is very much underused on SVU. He has done great work on this show, on H:LOTS, and on various other shows that he's appeared in over the years. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that TPTB of SVU keep their promise and give the viewers more of Munch this year, because over the past few seasons, Richard Belzer's presence on the show has been missed.

You haven't really seen the Law & Order franchise until you've seen Richard Belzer in action as John Munch on the "SVU" flavor of this franchise. Witty, acerbic and brilliant, Belz's long-honed portrayal of Munch is a highlight of the show and a great counterpoint to all the Elliot/Olivia over-played dramatic near-romance. John Munch is a TV icon, having appeared on no less than 10 shows, from the critically-acclaimed "Homicide: Life on the Street" to "Arrested Development" and too many others to name. (The jury's still out on whether or not Belz was in character when he appeared on "Sesame Street" to tell us that L is for LAZY. It's also for LOL, which sums up his schtick for that show.)

Next time you're in the mood for something darker, catch the SVU episodes "Painless" and "Parts," both of which show Belz's depth for drama. It's a couple hours of your life well spent.

This guy does one character that he pawns off all over the place. He was never funny as a stand up . . . like an un-funny version of Lewis Black. He hangs out with the likes of Bill Maher to make himself feel better than the rest of us true Americans. He rips the military, but neglects our military's involvement in WWII.

Apparently he feels it is okay to stifle free speech - he alluded that it is "illegal" to make fun of any ethnicities other than your own. Wow, comedy just went down the drain.

He claims to be friends with George Carlin (RIP), Richard Pryor, and other comedy greats, but they'll tell you that the 1st Amendment is what lets them live. Belzer would steal it away from you. He also had the audacity to question the nature of another comedian's work. That is a huge no-no.

Belzer, do us all a favor and stay in your little make believe world where you're a cop, everybody else is less important than you, and you can sit at home with your prosthetic testicle and your stupid little dog and be a brittle bitter little man.

Arrogant, Ignorant, Unimportant, Unintelligent, Insignificant, No Talent Azz Klown with no respectable body of work. Get a life . . . woah, too late, you're already 60-something. THe next Larry King . . . except not as funny.

One of my favorite actors and comedians and best character of SVU. Who cares if he's not the lead actor on SVU. He brought the Homicide fans over to SVU (some 5-7 million fans) and without him, SVU wouldn't exist today because it had so much troubles taking off in the first two seasons.

Munch has so much potential and it's sad that he is reduced to running errands for the squad.

People are always for the looks, so I guess that's why we see Benson and Stabler all the time. John Munch/Richard Belzer maybe old, but he is still has a handsome mug in his own way and can carry a show of his own. He carried Homicide and SVU before Benson and Stabler took over. If Benson and Stabler were old and didn't look like themselves as they do now, would you still like them as the lead characters? I bet if you saw how Richard look in the old days, these silly demented E/O shippers would change their minds.

We judge so much by looks and never by inner characteristics anymore, like the heart, realizing full potential, the will to succeed, etc. I'm not saying Mariska Hargitay/Olivia Benson or Christopher Meloni/Elliot Stabler don't have these characteristics, I'm saying it's more apparent in Richard Belzer/John Munch because the writers have hardly explored his character unlike with Benson and Stabler.
