Jamie Kennedy taking over for Jay Mohr on CBS drama; Seth Green, Sarah Paulson also land new roles.

Comedian Jamie Kennedy--like him or loathe him--has made a career out of being a funny man. He hosted his own prank show called The Jamie Kennedy Experience, was a creepy dude who relieved himself a little too close to Kal Penn in Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, and played an '80s break-dancer who wakes up from a 20-year coma in Kickin' It Old School. Not exactly Oscar-worthy stuff.

But he's since taken his career on a slightly different path, dabbling in more drama and less slapstick. He played a serial killer in a guest spot on Criminal Minds last year, and apparently CBS thought his straight-faced performance was good enough to warrant some more of this "acting."

Kennedy will be joining The Ghost Whisperer as a regular next year, according to The Hollywood Reporter, taking over for another funny-man-turned-straight-man in Jay Mohr, who departs for his own show Project Gary. As psych grad student Eli, Kennedy will pal around with Jennifer Love Hewitt as she does her ghost-whispering thing.

Another red-in-the-head funny man is also taking a new gig but will be sticking closer to his genre than Kennedy. Actor Seth Green--who is one of the creative forces behind Robot Chicken, voices Chris in Family Guy, and starred in Buffy the Vampire Slayer--will do a guest stint on My Name is Earl, which always seems to get the best actors for hire.

Green will play one of Earl's karmic targets, a former child in the Make-a-Wish program who saw his dream ruined by Earl (Jason Lee). His dream? To star in an action movie... We'll see how Earl and Randy pull off this one.

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip's Sarah Paulson will be returning to regular television as the female lead in Veronica Mars-creator Rob Thomas' Cupid redux. Paulson's character will serve as the psychiatrist to the male lead, played by Bobby Cannavale, who thinks he is the titular cherub o' love and tries to get Earthlings to get it on.

Elsewhere, Jeremy Renner, who was awesome in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, is joining The Unusuals; Sharon Lawrence (the short-lived Hidden Palms) is on board for The Prince of Motor City; and NCIS' Rocky Carroll has been bumped up to a show regular.

I hope this is a misprint, I mean I don't care for Jamie Kennedy, but I don't dislike him. And, to put him in GW, what the hell was these people thinking!! And, personally I don't like Seth Green much either. They could have done a better job at picking a better actor to take over Professor Payne's role!! I'll still watch GW, but it's not going to be as good

I cannot believe that they are going to ruin one of my fave shows with Jamie Kennedy. I do not like his brand of comedy and find him unpleasant to look at. Guess I will need to look for something else to watch on Fridays.

How Ironic considering Seth Green would have done 10 times better then Jamie Kennedy.

I hate to nitpick...but I just think it's funny that after being on the air for three years, so many articles still refer to GW as "THE Ghost Whisperer".

I agree I can't wait to see Seth Green. He's a great actor. Nothing against Jamie Kennedy as I do like him. I just can't see him in ghost whispherer.
