The Bravliest Baby:
At the local playground, monkey bars and a slide doubled as "Mount Neverrest", on the Rugrats' latest adventure. However, Tommy lost his grip and fell. While Angelica's Cynthiamobile broke his fall, he escaped uninjured, but there's one problem -- he became a fraidy cat. This led to Angelica's own test of bravery, which will determine who's the new… read more »
At Rugrats' peak it was one of the, if not the most popular show on Nickelodeon. This, according to Nick producers, is the show that put them on top in the 90's. Now let's see how it all started... In 1989, two parents named Gsapo Csupo and Arlene Klasky made the pilot for the show. Their baby… More son, Brendon, was their inspiration to create the Rugrats. After showing it to Nickelodeon they automatically liked it and turned it into a series. In 3 years Rugrats had aired more than 50 episodes. With a total of 65 episodes they stopped making new episodes and Rugrats was shown in primetime in 1994. After that the popularity of the show increased. Nickelodeon realized what good ratings they had and they decided to air brand new episodes of Rugrats in 1997. It was so popular that it had its first movie to be shown in theaters the following year featuring a new Rugrat named Dil. After the movie, they aired even more new episodes, including Dil with them on the show. In 2000, Nickelodeon made a second movie for the Rugrats, giving Chuckie a stepmom and featuring another new Rugrat named Kimi. More new episodes aired after that with Kimi, and in the year 2001 Nick had big plans for the show. Rugrats was in their 10th year, so Arlene Klasky and Nickelodeon decided to make the Rugrats 10 years older in the 10 year anniversary special called "All Growed Up". This episode was the most viewed Rugrats-related episode. A third movie in summer 2003, was a crossover with another Nicktoon: "The Wild Thornberrys". Originally, there were only four young rugrats who would sit in their playpen watching the world go by. The fearless leader of the group was Tommy Pickles, a resourceful baby who hides a plastic screwdriver in his diaper so that they can leave the pen. His best friend was Chuckie, a fearful, red-haired toddler who reluctantly agreed to venture out into the open, unsafe areas of the house. There were also the twins Phil and Lil who were always ready for any new challenge. Leaving the safety of their own playpen, the children would explore their surroundings and try to make sense out of what the adults are doing. Some of the most interesting characters were the parents and Tommy and Angelica's grandfather who would always fall asleep when taking care of the children. The parents' comments are so genuine that they bring a sense of reality to the show. Even the parents had different lives, with Chuckie's widowed father, and Angelica's loving father and busy mother. This show defines so many childhoods. I know when I was young I loved it, and so did my parents. It wasn't offensive at all, the characters were all likable {except Angelica of course}, and there were some great moments. It kinda jumped the shark later on, when Kimi came, and then Dil later on. But this series is definitely one of the greatest shows for children. Some parents will probably like it too, seeing as how the only negative thing is Angelica's behavior. But I think a lot of children will like it, I hope mine do in the future
wow. i havent seen this show since it was removed from nickelodeon back in the early 2000s. i owned the videotape, but im sure no one uses VCRs anymore. i used to watch this show every single time it came on, but it got pretty boring after awhile. i DO miss the show, but i could care less about seeing another episode. i also hated all grown up. that show was the worst updated rugrats ever! i hate how they made the adults look 10x older than they were supposed to look and how they elminated most of the pets each family had.
It maybe an old Nicktoon show, but that doesn't mean it was any good. hide show
Before I begin this is my opinion and isn't meant to come as any offence to those who disagree with me. I only started watching Rugrats when I was 8, and let me say, I didn't like it. It's a gross show; there was 1 time I saw Lil take something out of her belly button and then she ate it. Ugh. Another thing that I don't like about Rugrats is the like of humor they have in this series. For one thing, the only time it tries to be funny is when they use potty humor. And any other times they try to make a joke, they fail at making me laugh. Another thing that I dislike is the animation. I perfectly understand that this show was made in the 90's, and it's not the low quality of the colors I dislike, it's more of the way it was all drawn. In my opinion, the animators and all of the drawers or whatever they're called cannot draw well at all! I think the only reason people love it so much is because it's a "classic" show and it may bring back memories. I think that if it were airing tonight, I don't think as much people would like it. Because like me, more likely than not, they would complain about how gross this show is. And maybe if I had grown up with the show, maybe I would love it for the memories. But since I didn't, I don't like this show at all. My final grade for this is a 1/100.
Rugrats is an animated series and one of the orignal three Nicktoons that debuted on Nickelodeon in 1991, alongside Doug and The Ren and Stimpy Show. The show explores the imagination of four babies. hide show
Rugrats is, without question, one of the greatest animated television shows of all time and next to SpongBob, the greatest nicktoon of all time. Rugrats explores the the imagination of infants as the go on adventures beyond anyone's own dreams or own imagination. With Tommy being the leader and the show's main protagonist, it is no wonder why he is involved in most of the adventures. With Chuckie as his main sidekick and less brave than Tommy, it provides the show with comic relief, as well as their friends, the twins Phil and Lil. However, their adventures become sometimes cahllenging when the babies face off against Tommy's sinister and manipulative cousin, the incomparable Angelica. Though these adventures are just figments of the babies imagination, if one watched this cartoon in their childhood, they would realize why this cartoon is one of Nickelodeon's great animated legacies.
Okay....I used to love this show, but things have changed! hide show
I have to admit, I used to like this show a lot when I was about 3-11, I even used to buy Reptar toys and collect them, but then at age 11, I thought, Eeew! There were talons of bathroom jokes, and if Angelica Pickles could just shut the heck up and stop getting the babies in trouble, and whining for the STUPIDEST things like, "I want ice cream! And I want it now!!!", and she even chased after a guy in a reptar suit in a carnival over a stupid cereal bar! Yeah I understand the concept to the fact they are babies, but Angelica is a complete jerk most of the time. I usually don't mind the episodes that aren't centered around that stupid b*mbo though, Angelica could suck my uh...Okay!Now... I shouldn't go there. Also, Chuckie is a wuss, I mean I know he's just a toddler but, like he freaks out because he gets a "Big-Boy's" bed, panics because he's afraid of germs, breaks into shock because he thinks Reptar's gonna get him, and cries his eyes out because his glasses shattered. Wuss! Phil & Lil are annoying characters! Seriously! They are, um well...it's a certain word I shouldn't say on this website. Tommy Pickles was the only smart and decent character in the show. Dill was disgusting! Ugh! He would take a crap in his pants every now and then! Also, this show is a bad example for little kids, it doesn't teach them anything good! Just how to eat worms, you know, that can give you diarrhea. I also cannot believe this show's from the creators of The Simpsons, that's a much better show. I'm just expressing my opinion, so go ahead and give me a thumb down, see if I care.
