I'm a fan of Oliver Hudson since I saw him in the wb show a few years ago called "The Mountain". Unfortunatley, that was taken off the air with only 13 epiodes. In my opinion, The Mountain was much better but it wasn't a comedy. So I bought the first season on dvd and Rules is funny but I noticed a pattern. I wonder if any one else saw it. They show the older couple who's been married long in a way that makes marriage seem unfavorable. And then Oliver's fiancee is just too happy and pushy about getting married. Husbands used to always kid around about how bad marriage was. But nowadays, it really is. It's unneccesary pressure. If two people love each other and want to stay together, that's great. But forcing or coercing someone into marriage just makes problems and pushes the other person away. It used to be men who feel this way, but I do and I'm sure other women do too...marriage equals loss of identity, increased boredom, the idea that women cook and clean and have babies while the husband sits around watching sports. Each person winds up getting on the others nerves and fight over nothing. It's so much more but as I watch Rules, I don't want Oliver to get married. He's so good-looking...what's so special about her? He's guaranteed to get tired of her eventually...why put the label marriage over it and ruin what could be fun?
