A recent high-school grad, Ryan Caufield, joins the police force. His partner brings him to the scene of a brutal multiple homicide, where a police officer has been killed by a heroin dealer.

Vic is shot during a gas station robbery. He becomes paralyzed with fear, and he refuses to help identify the criminal. Elsewhere, Ryan agrees to help Susser out with the lady of his dreams by going on a double date.
