Ryan was born in Ventura, California and began acting in theatre at a very early age. But, it wasn't until his family moved to Phoenix that he took up on-camera work. Shortly after breaking into the business, Ryan landed a role on the short-lived Nickelodeon series NickAmerica, and could also be seen in commercials and a national ad campaign for Levis. Also while in Phoenix, Ryan was a member of the world renowned Phoenix Boys Choir, and was still very active in theatre. Ryan currently resides in Los Angeles. He still keeps very busy, currently playing "Chris" on the NBC series American Dreams, and "Turner" on the Disney Channel series The Jersey, as well as a young Marine on JAG for CBS. Last year he appeared on the NBC series Go Fish, and played "Dan" on MTV's Undressed. Ryan is the youngest of five brothers, and has accomplished a great deal outside of acting too. He started flying when he was 14 and has volunteered for a U.S. Congressman. Aside from his busy acting schedule, Ryan still finds time for his community. He is the founder of The Rynan Project, a Non-Profit Organization dedicated to providing resources to people wanting to get involved in their communities. His organization has a worldwide reach, affecting people as far away as Kiev, Ukraine and Denmark.
Ryan is also a volunteer for the America Sings organization, and in 2002, helped motivate over 5,000 other kids and young people to help make the world a brighter place through America Sings. Ryan urges everyone to get involved in giving, even if someone thinks they have nothing to offer. "We all have unique abilities within us to do something absolutely magical," Ryan says. "Whether it's the millionaire who gives $100,000 to build a library, or a kid who helps his elderly neighbor with yard work once a week, we all have something to offer. If everyone just harnessed that one thing, just imagine the world we could create."
