Why do I get the feeling that had Josh not been introduced during season 4 that the original plot would've solely revolved around Sabrina mentoring her witch student/new best friend Dreama (with the whole Brad witch hunter plot as a subplot to the season). You could just tell that before Josh's character was introduced in the 6th episode of the season that that was the direction that the season was going to go in. Rumor has it that before the writers decided to create the 4th season premiere episode "No Place Like Home" in order to cash-in on the popularity that surrounded new & upcoming popstar Britney Spears (at the time) and Melissa Joan Hart's new movie Drive Me Crazy "Dream A Little Dreama Me" was originally supposed to be the season premiere episode instead. I could totally see why the writers would originally want to make the whole entire 4th season be about Sabrina training newbie witch Dreama before they realized the massive potential in the Josh vs. Harvey plot. Since that season was officially the last season that Sabrina would be a teenage witch, and was also originally thought of to be the last season of the series period the writers wanted to show how much Sabrina had grown over the past 4 years as a witch by having her train Dreama & through training/mentoring her making Sabrina come full circle by the end of the season as a witch in the process. Unfortunately (or fortunately based on how you view it) because of the Josh vs. Harvey plot that plot took a backseat to it along with the witch hunter subplot as well. As we saw during the season despite the whole Josh plot the writers still did not want to let go of both the witch mentoring & witch hunter plot, so they tried to execute all 3 plots at the same time. But unfortunately due to the popularity of the Josh vs. Harvey plot both those plots suffered and never got a proper resolution to them (well minus the witch hunter's plot but that resolution IMO was totally lame & could've been dealt with MUCH BETTER). Despite it's flaws though this is still my most favorite season of the series, and also the season IMO where the series had reached it's peak.

I totally agree about "Dreama little Dreama me." I think it was going to be the season premiere, but "No Place like home" was instead because of Melissa's movie (and the Britney connection).
I liked the Harvey v. Josh plot a lot though and the witch hunter plot; but I wish the Dreama plot had been more in the forefront. And there was definitely no resolution of this plot....

But Sabrina technically was a teenage witch in season 5--she would have been 19.
Also, season 4 wasn't supposed to be the last of the series--ABC wanted to pick up the show, but wouldn't pay as much as the WB.

Wait a minute?! You're telling me that The WB actually paid MORE for the show then ABC ever did? Wow! You'd figure since the WB network was paying more money that that would've motivated the writers to actually making GOOD seasons that were either on par or better than the ABC seasons. Interesting fact, thanks .

Also after rewatching "Dream A Little Dreama Me" the other day I noticed that in the beginning of the episode one of the things that Zelda mentioned to Sabrina was that if she "failed" in mentoring Dreama that the Witches Council would take away her Witches License. Ugh! Why on Earth was that piece of dialogue needed? Couldn't the consequence to Sabrina's not mentoring Dreama had been something different instead? The writers REALLY needed to let go of that whole Witches License plot. Unless we were actually going to see Sabrina use it/see how the Witches License amplified her powers (which was yet another flaw in season 4) it didn't need to be mentioned in the episode. Thank God it wasn't EVER mentioned again in the series after that episode (with the very minor exception of when Amanda was training for her own Witches License in the subplot to the season 6 episode "The Competition").

I know, the whole witches license thing was a big disappointment...She worked toward that for two seasons, and for what?
And yeah, the WB paid more for the show....I guess they thought that seasons 5-7 were better than the first four because they were more "grown up" and they fit in better with their demographic. I would have to diagree though (like most fans, I thought seasons 1-4 were much better).

I know it's off-topic but I actually think that seasons 1-6 were great and it was only Season 7, in the absence of Hilda and Zelda, that sucked.
