The episode starts with Amy being stopped by one of her teachers, giving her a notebook she forgot. The teacher tells Amy he knows she's been giving help to Serena, whom he describes as lazy and laid back. Serena overhears the entire conversation, slinking down in dissatisfaction while the teacher tells Amy that if he gets her a tutor, Amy can focus on her own studies. As Molly drgas Serenea away (the two had a deal that if Serena copied her and Melvin's homework, she'd buy the two a pizza), Amy leaves, disappointed and thinking that all she ever does is study.
Later on, she meets up with Darien, whom she tells about her opinions on studying. Amy has Draien's support, as he would be glad to receive an injection if someone who would want to be a doctor like Amy would give it to him. Cheered up, Amy decides to go for a swim. On her way to the pool, she is spotted by Kaorinite from above, who decides that her intellect would make her the perfect target.
As she enjoys her favorite pasttime, Amy meets up with Michelle who challenges her to a race. The two tie, but Michelle seems disppointed in Amy, wondering why she would have the race end in a tie, thinking, perhaps, Amy was afraid of huring her ego. Now more dispirited than ever, Amy leaves the pool. Amara and Michelle then talk about how Michelle could have been nicer, which ends with Michelle feeling bad and wanting to make it up to Amy.
Amy heads to Raye's hut to study with the other girls, who almost instantly swarm around her, asking for help on their work. Serena decides to defend Amy, assuring her than nobody will bother her so she can study. Unfrotunately, Amy takes it the wrong way again and Serena manages to notice her sadness before she leaves, claiming to have "forgotten something". Before the girls can take advantage of Serena's brief change of attitude toward studying, she leaves to follow Amy, hoping she didn't do the wrong thing.
On a bridge, Amy is left in doubt over herself, thinking all she can do is study. Amara then appears on her motorcycle, offering to bring Amy back to the pool; Michelle wants a re-match with her. Before she can get out of sight, Luna and Artemis spot her. Luna, worried, follows her to the pool. Meanwhile, Dr. Tomo releases the Daimon Heartsnatcher pod used to attack Amy.
Back at the pool, Amy and Michelle exchange words, Ay apologizing for slowing down at the end of their last race and Michelle forgiving. Meanwhile, Serena finds Artemis, who tells Serena that Amy is at the pool again. Both head on their way while Luna nervously prowls around the entrance of the fitness center, hoping Amy will be safe.
Amy and Michelle have a 100-meter free style and while they race, Amy begins to question why she is swimming so fast. Either she is afraid to lose or just really wants to win. Regardless, she promises to push for as far as she can go. The race once more ends in a tie and Amy, inspired by Michelle's grace and power in their contest, decides to swim for a while longer. Unfortunately, the Daimon pod bonds with the water, creating Doblin, who mockingly assesses Amy's doubt about herself, saying that once she takes Amy's Pure Heart Crystal, Amy will have no need to worry about her life. Amy, who is now in the water is dragged under the pool by the Heartsnatcher's powers, thrown against a window, and immobilised by the Heartsnatcher, who proceeds to capture her Heart Crystal.
Outside the center, Luna points out the Heartsnatcher to Serena, who sees the dark glow from the monster's attacks from the window above. Transforming into Sailor Moon, she confronts the Heartsnatcher, who immobilises her as well (humorously, with a floatie). Crying out pain as her Heart is taken, Amy loses consciousness when the Heartsnatcher claims her Heart Crystal, but not before hearing Sailor Moon say that Amy is her special friend and worthy of being a great doctor. These words make a tear in her eye.
Realizing that the Crystal has no power, Kaorinite attempts to break it, but is stopped by Tuzedo Mask. After she disappears, Sailor Moon, Tuxedo Mask, and the two cats rally against her until she is defeated. Serena then returns Amy's Heart Crystal to her and Amy thanks Sailor Moon for helping her recover. After saying she is now more confident about her dreams, the two get into a humorous feud over Tuxedo Mask before Amy reminds Serena that they have to go home and study.
