Sally Kirkland: Biography

Sally Kirkland was born in New York on October 31, 1941 to Frederick McMichael Kirkland, who worked in the scrap metal industry and Sally Kirkland who was the fashion editor at Vogue and LIFE magazines. Sally began acting Off-Broadway in 1962. She began acting in Hollywood with small roles such as The Sting, JFK and A Star is Born. However in 1987 she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in Anna. She did not win the Academy Award but received a Golden Globe for the role. Appearing in nearly 150 movies and on various TV shows, Sally Kirkland's career has been very successful and diverse. Sally Kirkland is a minister at the church of The Movement of Spiritual inner awareness, a teacher and an artist. Sally Kirkland is also a health activist and shows no signs of slowing down her stellar career.

In January 2008, Sally Kirkland was hospitalized for exhaustion. She later received treatment for sleep deprivation.(edit)
