This episode is based on the Steptoe and Son episode, "TB or Not TB", written by Alan Galton and Ray Simpson. (edit)

Great
A Matter of Life and Breath
"Exactly why I watch this series"
All the episodes where Fred is sick, plays sick, or is convinced he is sick are my favorites. There is a part of Redd Foxx's acting that seems to explode when he does that "overacting" thing that he does so well. And this is no exception.
