While unloading from their rounds, Fred and Lamont discover a stowaway: Nine year old Jason has hidden himself on the Sanford truck. He claims that he has no father, that his mother's at work, and that he has no place to go. He invites himself to dinner at the Sanfords.

Lamont is happy to have him, but Fred disapproves. Fred fears that boys are like cats. Once you feed them, they never leave.

Dinner is chicken. Fred offers Jason a back (Lamont's portion) or a neck (Fred's portion). At first Jason chooses the neck. But Fred fabricates a story about the dangers of swallowing a neck bone. So Jason chooses the neck.

During an ensuing argument over whether he should spend the night, Jason smiles at Fred, and Fred has accepted him. Jason spends the night. Jason goes as far as to suggest that his mother marry Fred. The next day, with Lamont gone, Fred loses $650 to Jason playing poker.

Lamont calls in Officers Smith and Hopkins to investigate. Jason gets scared, and escapes to the truck where he was first found. By now, Jason's mother arrives, and is happy to see her son. Lamont and Jason go off to the truck. Fred and Winnie go off to the kitchen.

Jason leaves, with an invitation to return any time. He does, only this time with a dozen of his friends.
