In The Barracuda, Lamont successfully thwarted Fred and Donna's engagement plans. But now they are back together, and Fred reinforces this with an engagement ring. The stage is set for Round Two with Lamont.

Fred walks in as Lamont and Melvin are watching TV, and announces his plans. Melvin had been remarried late in life, and his remarriage resulted in divorce. Lamont milks that, and Melvin monotonously advises Fred, "Don't do it." Eventually, Melvin exits, leaving Fred and Lamont alone. Lamont advises Fred that if Fred can get married, so can Lamont.

Fred invites Donna to dinner so Lamont might become enthralled with her cooking. He appears to be co-operating, even getting dressed up for the dinner. But Lamont had counter-planned a dinner of his own by inviting sexpot Sheila Monroe over to cook dinner for him.

This does not phase Donna, for she simply invites Lamont and Sheila to share in theirs. This sounds good to Sheila, for she had just gotten new fingernails. Lamont acquiesces, and they sit down to a dinner of glazed ham and sweet potatoes.

Shortly into dinner, Sheila asks if anyone might mind if she smokes a cigarette. When Donna minds, Lamont challenges her right to object. He pursues the argument even after Sheila withdraws her request to smoke.

Fred and Donna retreat to the kitchen, and Donna demands that Fred make Lamont apologize. Arguments ensue in all directions, and Fred insults womankind, Donna included. The ladies retreat, leaving the men to themselves.

Donna calls Fred, and Lamont answers. Fred assures Lamont that he intends to reinforce what he said to Donna at the dinner, and Lamont leaves Fred to his privacy. Instead, Fred apologizes to Donna, leaving the door opened for further possibilities.
