Fred returns from his extended trip to St. Louis and Lamont, Donna, Aunt Esther, Bubba, Rollo and Grady have planned a surprise party for his return. Fred no more than steps in the door and Aunt Esther and him are at each other's throats. However, the real problem comes when Fred does some eavesdropping on Lamont and Grady.

Fred's patented hangover remedy makes it's first appearance. It consists of raw eggs, tomato juice, salt and pepper, prune juice, worcestershire sauce and a "smidgen" of vodka. An even worse variation on it would appear in episode 121: "Carol."

Although this episode welcomes Fred back from St. Louis, it was not the first episode taped after Redd Foxx's hiatus, episode 67, They'll Be Some Changes Made was, with a production number of 0404. Thus, the first three episodes taped (production numbers 0401, 0402 and 0403) for this season are without Redd Foxx.
