The episode that runs on TV Land cuts the most priceless moment. The scene has Fred coming and wearing a look of horror after seeing the proceedings. He does an about-face and walks back up and then comes down with a baseball bat. (edit) This is the famous episode where Fred pulls Esther's wig off, with Lamont bursting out in laughter. Demond Wilson's (Lamont) hilarious reaction seems to indicate the wig gag was probably NOT rehearsed! (edit) Pat Morita makes his first appearance in the recurring role of Ah Chew. Fred: (On the phone.) Police? Is this the bureau of missing sons? Uh, uh, persons? Yeah, I'm looking for my son, Lamont. Yeah, yeah, Lamont. You what? You got a guy there who don't know who he is? Well-- well, ask him is he Lamont. He don't know if he's Lamont? Well, does he know if he's black? He isn't? Well, it won't make no difference who he is. (edit) Lamont: See, the group feels that people don't touch each other enough and it makes them uptight and it leads to heart problems and ulcers.
Fred: Now that's the dumbest thing I ever heard. What if I'm walking down the street and I see a pretty girl and start touching her all over? What do I tell the police? 'Uh well, you see officer I was trying not to get an ulcer' (edit) Fred: I need that group like President Nixon needs a tape deck! (edit) Fred: Esther, what I'm trying to say is that you're overly generous. Every time you open up your mouth, you give away your ignorance! (edit) Esther: Thine own son! Flesh of thy flesh! Bones of thy bones!
Fred: And mouth of thy mouth!! (edit) Esther: I just came over to bring some of my homemade preserves.
Fred: Well, don't hold it up too close to your face. We don't want to preserve that! (edit) Esther: I didn't come here to be insulted!
Fred: Tell me where you go and I'll follow you there! (edit)

Fred says that Lamont "happened" in 1942 but in the episode "Libra Rising Over Lamont" it was said that he was born in 1940. (edit) When Lamont and Fred are talking in the kitchen (just before Ah Chew enters) you can see the shadow of the boom mike pass over Redd Foxx's head. (edit) Actually Lamont in French means "The Mount". "Big Mistake" in French is "grande erreur." (edit)
