George Kennedy was very convincing as Father Samuel Cavanaugh, a San Diego parish priest who dabbled in detective work. Father Cavanaugh's nickname was "Sarge", since he had previously been a police detective sergeant for nine years. Sarge quit the force and became a priest when his wife (Diane Baker) was murdered.
Sexy Sallie Shockley played Valerie, Sarge's young live in housekeeper....
