B5 here too. Loved the five year story arc and the idea of two titanic forces fighting it out with humans and other lesser races caught in the middle.

Dr. Who, Stargate and Battlestar are all close seconds though.

I liked star trek, the original. It had some nuggets of science, like Spock had green, copper-based blood. Star trek, the next generation had alot of pseudo science, I still liked it though. My general criticism of most sci-fi shows these days is: "insert show name here" is a drama based in a sci-fi setting.

Try Threshold. It has alot of science. I'm not sure yet that it'll turn out to be hard science but there's alot more science to the show than most other scifi shows. I don't see that changing since three of the leads are scientists in various fields. Oh, and one of them is Data (Brent Spiner)!

In my humble (and characteristically overly verbose) opinion:

BEST SCIENCE FICTION SHOW OF THE 50's:
    The Twilight Zone
(Though The Outer Limits has its moments as well.)

BEST SCIENCE FICTION SHOW OF THE 60's:
    Star Trek
(The winner without a doubt. The standard by which all science fiction shows are still judged even today. Lost in Space is a poor second.)

BEST SCIENCE FICTION SHOW OF THE 70's:
    Doctor Who
(The Tom Baker years were exceptional adventure and science fiction, while the Americans were producing cheesy programs like Logan's Run, Project UFO and Battlestar Galactica. That said, I will always have a fond place in my heart for The Six Million Dollar Man. Second place is also an English show: UFO. At its best a morally ambiguous and darkly suspenseful series. Check it out if you can.)

BEST SCIENCE FICTION SHOW OF THE 80's:
    Star Trek: The Next Generation
(Though I think ST:TNG is far and away the winner, the competition for second gets tougher with V, The Greatest American Hero, Amazing Stories, Alf and Alien Nation all appearing this decade. But in the end second place will have to go to the wonderfully satiric Max Headroom.)

BEST SCIENCE FICTION SHOW OF THE 90's:
TIE: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Babylon 5
(Two space station shows with similar ambitions in creating huge character and story arcs, but with fundamental differences in their vision. You can argue over which one was more successful, because after trying to decide for twenty minutes I just have to declare a draw. So many other great choices that I don't dare make a second choice: Quantum Leap, Star Trek: Voyager, The X-Files, Earth 2, Pinky and the Brain, Third Rock from the Sun, Seven Days and the list goes on...)

BEST SCIENCE FICTION SHOW OF THE NEW MILLENNIUM (so far):
    Battlestar Galactica
(But I also really love the new Doctor Who as well. This is the tiniest hair's breadth of a win. Isn't it strange that for the current decade, two of the leading shows are new incarnations of earlier shows?)

BEST SCIENCE FICTION SHOW OF ALL TIME:
    Star Trek
(There so many reasons: Innovation, longevity, influence, omnipresence, cultural currency, but even without all that it would still win out if only by virtue of the fact that if it were not for this show we would all be posting on a Western Forum rather than a Science Fiction Forum.)

    firefly
    BTVS
    Angel
    Farscape
    Charmed(i kno not really scifi)
    Stargate Atlantis
The Dead Zone (book was crapppy HE DIED!!!!)

Daniel: Well... you kept the wrong guy because I don't know anything about this ship.
Vala: (in manlike armor) But you are very attractive.
Daniel: (cough)... What?? Hey big guy, I'm flattered, really I am, it's just that, uh, you're not my type. Uh, more than a little disturbed that I might be yours.

Vala: Come on Daniel, you've seen me naked - the least you can do is cook me dinner.

Vala: Did you have fun taking off my clothes?
    Daniel: It was your idea.
Vala: No, I meant when I was conscious. So I could distract you and kick you in the head.

    Vala: You hit me!
    Daniel: You hit me.
Vala: You know, we could just have sex instead.

Vala: Don't worry, I'm not going to hurt you.
    Daniel: Thank God.
    Vala: Much. I hope.

Daniel: It's even stranger as you guys usually don't take prisoners either, I mean it's kind of kill first and... no, that's generally about it, just killing...

i could not have said it better my self. it is all very similar these days, if you would have "LOST" happening in mars that would be concidered sci-fi with same exhact screenplay.

labels are nothing. sfi-fi is about inovation and new crazy ideas not about john loves jane long time in the interstelar ship.

i think that a lot of shows start out great and then its like its season 5 john has to love jane.....
